Ah, well, I suppose war is much more fascinating to our arm-chair generals.
An amazing new suborbital aircraft that skates along the top of the atmosphere and can reach any spot on the globe in under an hour -- vs --- unions going on strike to improve conditions.

Yeah - how could anyone not be more fascinated with the latter.
Why am I not surprised that you are more fascinated with killing machines than improved rights and conditions?
The "killing machine" is brand new, amazing technology - something we've never seen before. We've seen strikes and unions for centuries.

Being "fascinated" by something doesn't mean one ranks it as more important to the world. I am "fascinated" by the new space telescopes and WMAP, too - more fascinated by that than by water purification. However, water purification is more directly important to humanity today.

See the difference?

If we don't survive as a country what will the rights and conditions be like?
To some folks, it would only be an improvement since some folks are of the impression that the U.S. is somehow an oppressive place to live, wherein workers are routinely abused and people die in the streets of starvation while the rest of the populace points and laughs in glee.

Friendly fire ain't friendly.
You just now someone, somewhere, has asked "Say, can we stick a nuke on this thing?"
I would imagine that potentiality has been part of the analysis from the start. It's generally not too difficult to stick a nuke on there anyway.

I think this is more a symptom of the U.S. being the land of the excessive Air Force budget. I mean, seriously, we need to launch from the U.S. rather than from a submarine near the target?

Neat. But doesn't the US have more impotent things to do? Like fixing the economy and paying down the trillion dollar deficit?

Yes, I was implying that the US is impotent to fix its broken economy intentionally - nevermind dream aircraft which will never see production.
