See the video clip that tigger linked. A police marksman shot the gun out of a suicides hand. It can and has been done.
In a case like this, where nobody is in any real danger, why not?

The guy in the clip I showed was pointing the gun at himself under his chinny chin chin, not randomly spraying shot out of a window (and who knew at the time what else he had at his disposal. As I already said, and DP said too). You keep calling it a bird gun as if that makes it a harmless Airsoft toy. I linked that clip not because I have any measure of support for your argument, but because it was a neat shot in entirely different circumstances. At no point was the gunman discharging his weapon threateningly in the video clip. Nor I believe was he pissed and drugged up and unpredictable. He was not totally suicidal, he had other targets in mind.

One of the police gave the game away with a comment later.
He was asked why they didn't use a Tazer shotgun, and he said that that would have put the officer within range of the shotgun.
They knew they were safe.

Maybe they were relatively safe apart from being there in the first bloody place, protecting people like you and me. So you want one of them to risk their lives now. Why? Explain your reasoning to the dead cop’s widow and children.
