Re: All Things Trump
If you think that winning an election makes Trump the smart fellow he believes himself to be, there's not much anybody can do to disabuse you of that misconception. And if it makes your chest swell with pride to credit Trump for things that he mostly inherited from the previous administration, there's not much point in arguing with you about it.

Re: All Things Trump
Being able to win the Presidency of the United States, when much of his own party was against him, the Democrat geniuses said he was a laughing stock and incapable of winning and would never be president, and the media was dead set against him, and his own party started a wing called "Never Trump" demonstrates a fair bit of capacity. He had the brains to be able to isolate his path to victory, and travel down it (Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida), when all the really smart people said he was wasting his time. Why was he in that one county in Maine what could give him an electoral vote? Why was he in New Mexico? These were states that were gone for him - no chance. If one listened to the people who are supposedly the functionally smart people, there was no path to victory.L'Emmerdeur wrote: ↑Tue Jun 12, 2018 3:20 pmIf you think that winning an election makes Trump the smart fellow he believes himself to be, there's not much anybody can do to disabuse you of that misconception. Trump did not "mostly inherit" things from the previous administration. He mostly REVERSED things from the previous administration. Just declaring that whatever success he had was Obama's win is not an argument. The reality is that Trump did things completely different from Obama, and Trump's opponents knew he would - that's why all the functionally smart people predicted economic collapse, stock market collapse, and foreign policy horrors when Trump was elected. Instead, we got economic boom, stock market rise, and foreign policy successes.

Re: All Things Trump
lol - That article is a hit piece searching for a hit. The summit occurred, and was lauded resoundingly as a success. President Moon of South Korea said we're never going back to the past, and we will seize this opportunity to make lasting peace between the two Koreas. Everyone is happy about it. The South Korean military, though, said that they would want clarification as to what was meant, exactly, i.e. the details, of the suspension of the joint military maneuvres! Oh, nos! That's "total confusion!" Someone wants clarification! That can't be! The summit is a dismal failure!Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 12, 2018 3:27 pmTotal confusion takes over after the "talks".
Optimism and confusion in Seoul over Trump-Kim summit
Agreement welcomed in South Korea amid bemusement over war games and dismay from North Korean refugees
And, North Korea agreed to “work towards complete denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula”, language rather than "complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement (CVID) of North Korea’s nuclear arsenal." So, they are agreeing to "complete denuclearization, and The Guardian does not indicate that anyone is in a state of "confusion" about this. But, The Guardian has to come up with something negative, so that's it.
Some South Korean General said he might need some clarification on what a term means, and the phrasing of denuclearization was a bit different than the exact language of ultimate end goal of the US. So, total confusion!
Japan's PM Abe praised the agreement. China praised the agreement. It's a failure!
People want more detail - total confusion!
Come on, man.... that Guardian article is an embarrassment. Oh, no! They had a summit and failed to negotiate a complete and intricately detailed peace treaty to settle all the issues at once in all respects with nothing left to negotiate! People have questions! Total confusion!
If this was Obama, he'd have had the whole thing locked up. We'd know exactly the timetable for denuclearization, how it will be done, how it will be verified, what safeguards will be in place, and a timetable for sanctions relief, and an inspection regime set up by neutral persons, with all the details ironed out. There'd be nothing left to discuss and everything would be decided and defined with perfect clarity. Well, maybe not if Obama was doing it, because he's American, but if a Dutchman was doing the negotiating - boy howdy, they'd get this hammered out in one go. A 45 minute meeting, an hour and half conference, a lunch, and a public presentation - done! That's how a real country like the Netherlands would take care of business.

The amount of stupidity is this country is truly astonishing. I mean, it's not like I didn't know before that there were a lot of backwards, gullible, religious, and racist ignoramuses in this country, but clearly I didn't truly understand the scale of the problem until Trump was elected.

Sadly, I've seen so much of the stupidity that I think he'll be reelected. That says something about us doesn't it?Seabass wrote:The amount of stupidity is this country is truly astonishing. Re: All Things Trump
Hmm, most sources I checked list both as acceptable, however--
An ignoramus is a word for a person without any intelligence, an extremely dumb individual. It is a pejorative term meant to be an insult.
The plural is ignoramuses. Some dictionaries list ignorami as a variation of the plural, but this is a backformation by those who suppose since ignoramus comes from Latin that it would have the Latin –i plural. However, in the original Latin, ignoramus was a verb, not a noun, and would still have the -es plural.

technically, it being a verb used as a noun, it should be invariable
