The Coronavirus Thread
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Holy shit that stuff is expensive...
Crazy, man. I hope you don't suffer high prices, in addition to legal opposition and the resultant low quality assurance...

We have legal weed, and now retail sales, though I haven't had to buy any. It's legal virtually all the way from Maine to VA, or decriminalized for small amounts. Then west through Illinois, except Indiana, who gave us Mike Pence. Nuff said there, I just ruined the post by putting his name in it.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
As for the falling infection rates, At least some of it I think is because out of the remaining people who haven't been infected or vaccinated, a sizeable portion are still isolating, wearing masks when out and about, and keeping distance from each other.
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Does previous infection with the virus, work as well as the vaccines?
I haven't heard of many re-infections...

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I haven't touched the stuff in decades, but that site is just one of many options for those who partake. Feedback from friends is that the quality is consistently high, no pun intended. It's been legal for recreational use since 2012, for retail sales since 2014, and not surprisingly the industry has taken off.

https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2021 ... h-covid-19Tanzania’s main opposition leader has said President John Magufuli, an avowed coronavirus sceptic out of public view for nearly two weeks, is in India receiving medical treatment for COVID-19 and is in a serious condition.
...
Magufuli has played down the threat from COVID-19, saying God and remedies such as steam inhalation would protect Tanzanians. He has mocked coronavirus tests, denounced vaccines as part of a Western conspiracy to take Africa’s wealth, and opposed mask-wearing and social distancing.
...
That is the guy who claimed tests were positive for motor oil and papayas.

Vox:
That gap in efficacy numbers is fueling some people’s perception that the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine isn’t as good. However, scientists say that these numbers can’t be fairly compared to one another. The efficacy levels of the Covid-19 vaccines are specific to the clinical trials that produced them, and those trials were not conducted in the same ways.
Snip
That means the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was tested during one of the most severe stages of the pandemic, when transmission, cases, and hospitalizations were at their worst in many places around the world, including the US. The trial also captured efficacy against the new variants of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes Covid-19) which began circulating at this point in some parts of the world. Several of these variants have shown themselves to be more contagious, deadlier, and more likely to evade protection from vaccines and prior immunity.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Back in November:
Lilly's neutralizing antibody bamlanivimab (LY-CoV555) receives FDA emergency use authorization for the treatment of recently diagnosed COVID-19
What happened?
I think Fauci said they did not pick up as they were injectables. Or worse, infusion. Plus they failed with any variants of the virus.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
The second definition has been the one virologists and epidemiologist have used for decades. The idea that 'herd immunity' is a natural phenomenon separate from medical immunisation is one chiefly floated by politicians reluctant to address the outbreak - a misapplication of the term. The phenomenon of a population becoming immune to infections without medical intervention is usually referred to as resistance.Cunt wrote:The skeptics are suspicious of the changed definition of 'herd immunity', and the timing of the change.
I'm not in doubt enough to avoid my vaccine (9 days to shot 2!!) but it sure does look like there is a lot of politics going in in what is presented as science.
