Mixed motives sure, but I think that, when it comes to current violence, the muslim mix has much more religion than violence perpetrated by the west...
Well, the US is significantly more religious than most of the west. All this white supremacist and neo-Nazi shit over here is inextricably linked to Christian fundamentalism. People tend to forget that the KKK is as Christian as it is racist. It's taboo to criticize Christianity over here. Piety = virtue and all of that. But Christian supremacy and white supremacy have been attached at the hip for centuries over here...

Yes they have been attached for some people, but right here and now, terrorist bombings "in the name of Jesus" are as rare as hen's teeth in comparison to those "in the name of Allah"

To be against christian fundamentalism, and right-wing racism (linked or not) does not mean ignoring the very real issue of Islamic inspired violence. Sometimes, the left seems to lean over backwards in an effort to minimise the extent of the violence inextricably mixed with Islam. My contention (which I've expressed here many times) is that it is a (somewhat understandable) attempt to clearly remove themselves from even a remote association with the anti-Islamic rants of the racist red-necks...
Nurse, where the fuck's my cardigan?
