The indirect part comes because there is no clear, direct implication that Exi stated that you specifically have an IQ less than 6. Your example, however, is clear and unequivocal that the post above has been made by a dickhead. Done in the normal course of a thread rather than an example, it would warrant a reminder/warning.

But again, you have missed the point - this isn't a democracy, or a debating house. Moderators are here to make decisions about issues such as this. A decision has been made. Move on, as I have said to Seth and others...

There is no logic in the world that you could employ to refute that the conclusion from those two premises is that I have an IQ less than 6. It's the EXACT same principle in the example I used against you.

Well, to make a serious reply, of course this is terrible. Mind you, it is not that they are a generally tolerant society with a specifically and unique viciousness towards gays. They treat dissidents to their regime just as harshly. It is simply another manifestation of their authoritarian society...

Reading that Guardian report, it comes across that the Chinese government is well ahead of the general population, in attitudes to homosexuality.

Chinese doctors are offering painful electroshock therapy and drug prescriptions they claim will “cure” homosexuality, an undercover documentary team has discovered, even though the treatments have no scientific basis and a Beijing court recently ruled against the practice.

Last year a court in Beijing made a landmark ruling against a clinic in south China that administered electroshock and hypnosis “conversion” treatments.

The Chinese health industry is notorious for offering bogus treatements.
The fact that people put themselves through it reflects the attitudes of the nation in general.
Gay people in Britain used to put themselves through similar ordeals a few years ago.
Many gay people relate stories of self-loathing, when they realised that they were gay, back in those days. It's down to the attitudes that they grew up with.

The biggest factor in "normalising" gayness in the public mind, is public figures, who most people like and admire, being open about being gay.
For some people it's sports people. For me, it's comedians like Steven Fry, and Kenny Everett.
