The EC telling Scotland what to do? Does that mean they'll be admitted in at once or fast tracked in should they vote yes?

I just wonder how the UK manages to bypass themm rulez and stay in, though.

Long standing agreements it says - going way back. All that would presumably have to be negotiated from scratch by Scotland- assuming they had a foot in the door to begin with.

As to the EU interfering - I'm not sure they are, so much as stating facts. However they must have a view - and I guess most of the commission would be of the opinion that splintering the nation states further is not a good thing.

Wiser than turning up here yesterday, it was payday for many places in friday, most of the population would have been half-cut and burned the fuckers in a wicker van. (It used to be wicker man , but the wicca are a pain in the arse about gender fluidity.)

I'd like to see Cameron progress through Scotland on the back of an elephant, pith-helmeted (Cameron, not the elephant), with 500 tartan-clad native bearers carrying his luggage. It's what the nationalists think of him anyway, may as well play it for the lolz.

When they vote 'no' it will be evidence that they love us after all. :swoon:

They're on about oil today. Scotland gets an equal amount of money back from the rest of the UK now, so if they gain the oil revenues, they will lose an equal amount from the treasury. They won't be a penny better off.

But, if Salmond does get his way, and Scots DO get lots more money, they will probably up sticks, and move to Greece, and live next door to SIR Sean Canary, the greatest living ''Scotsman''.

It just looks to me like the Scots are being bullied into voting no.

Or simply being told of the real consequences of a yes vote...

Neither of the above.

Considering what is seemingly offered, I agree.

Well if the vote is no (which seems highly likely) there will be a continued process of further devolution of course. Perhaps non-Brits aren't aware of the degree to which the Scots make their own decisions these days. I suspect there will be an insistence of that process being continued.

There was an article in, I think, the Guardian, this week which called the form of independence that was on offer in this rumbling farce of a process the "independence of the granny-flat". Spot on, that.
