Well that's a good point. I think the right appeals to a lot of working class voters.

Er, you only need to look at the last election to see that it may well make a difference.

There was a large anti-war movement of muslims from Labour to the LibDems, and even towards the Conservatives.

As we had a situation where Labour and the LibDems could not form a successful coalition to challenge the Tories, by a relatively small number of seats, it's perfectly possible that the movement away from Labour had a very significant effect, that it actually changed the political composition of the coalition.

There's a line somewhere here, but I'm not sure enough where it is to take a position on this divisive issue. It's somewhere around

France is very conservative right now, and had been growing moreso for about two decades before Sarkozy was elected. But I sense that's off-topic.
