This is where the GOP is today, where a bipartisan solution is considered worse than anything.
They would see it as Rivendell trying to reach a compromise with Mordor...

And they'd probably get Matt Gaetz as Speaker for their trouble. :hehe:

Greene voted for Putin
But Thursday, two other Republicans — Greene and Crane — flipped votes they made on Tuesday and opposed the rule, joining Bishop, Rosendale and Biggs, who had also opposed the procedural vote Tuesday.

Those five were enough to tank the rule and block consideration of the Pentagon appropriations bill.

Crane said he opposed the procedural vote Thursday because his voters “expect me to do everything I possibly can to change the way this town works.”
“There’s nothing that’s going to get me to go back on what I just voted,” he added.

Greene said she opposed the effort because it included funding for Ukraine.

“I just voted NO to the rule for the Defense bill because they refused to take the war money for Ukraine out and put it in a separate bill,” Greene wrote on X.

House GOP leadership has been looking to advance the Pentagon appropriations bill for more than a week.

Comer got tons of Biden documents. Claimed he got 14 pages.

Politico/Daily Beast
Rep. James Comer, (R-KY) and the House Oversight Committee were given access to a tranche of unredacted emails from President Joe Biden’s time as vice president—though they do not provide any evidence that he was involved in his son Hunter’s business dealings, according to POLITICO. The revelation is a major loss for the Republicans leading the committee, who have long sought the emails in question from the National Archives and suggested they might provide the smoking gun required to finally initiate impeachment proceedings against Biden. The emails in question included schedules, Ukrainian praise for Biden’s late son, Beau, and even an article, sent by an adviser, that described reasons the then-vice president had become a sex symbol in the country of Georgia. Comer, for his part, suggested there were more emails Biden conspired to withhold. “The National Archives has only produced 14 pages of what is expected to be thousands of pages if the Biden White House doesn’t try to withhold them from Congress,” a House Oversight Committee spokesperson said.

"It seems that way because now that everyone understands that DeSantis will never be president, his power in Florida is rapidly diminishing, too.

To put it as bluntly as Politico, Ron DeSantis is losing his political clout in Florida. Period."

None of his Trump worship helps McCarthy quell the Trump miscreants, or calms anybody else in the House Republican Conference, for that matter. McCarthy is perceived as having the vision of a mole, the courage of a squirrel and the dignity of a dunk-tank clown. But that’s only what Republicans think of him. The feeling is not reserved to those who wish to destroy him, but held by those sustaining him.
