If idiots don't take vaccines and subsequently die, then at least the gene pool is improved...

Of course, those dying from disease are overwhelmingly those who are post-breeding age. If they're going to pass on their genes, they already will have done that.

Fair point, also Brian's point that the consequences of death by vaccination refusal are also increased strains on a health system...

Fox focusing on California payments to blacks. California never had slaves.
Activists on Saturday demanded that the state of California pay millions of dollars to each Black resident in reparations as a way to make amends for slavery and subsequent discrimination, dismissing the mammoth proposals from California's reparations task force as too little.

"You know that the numbers should be equivocal to what an acre was back then. We were given 40, OK? We were given 40 acres. You know what that number is. You keep trying to talk about now, yet you research back to slavery and you say nothing about slavery, nothing," said Pierce. "So, the equivocal number from the 1860s for 40 acres to today is $200 million for each and every African-American."

Average cost of land per acre in the US is around $25,560. That multiplied by 40 acres = $1,022,400, which is only about 195.62 times less than Pierce claimed.

From the same source, the average cost of an acre of land in California is around $39,092, giving a forty-fold cost of $1,563,680 - which is only about 127.9 times less than claimed.

You'd think the actual numbers would be big enough on their own without having to exaggerate them by 128-196x.

I think the entire lump sump should be divided up among the slave states. Oh heck, just send the bill to Greg Abbott in Texas. They can take care of any slave descendants in the Western half of the US.

More back of envelope maths: roughly 75% of the 41m African Americans counted at the last census are over 18. Giving each of them a one-off payment equivalent to a Californian land price for 40 acres would cost around $492bn - just over half the annual Military budget for the US, or about 6% of US Military expenditure over a ten year period.

I just have problems billions and the equivalent miljardi.

Funny how I did everything in exponential notation and slide rule before calculators. You got 0.52x10 to 3 or something. You just changed it to 5.2 x 10 to 2.

Trump in 2028? Vs Harris.

Such an investment in support of a sitting vice president is politically unprecedented. And it reflects the lack of broader efforts that have been made to date to help bolster the vice president amid persistently low approval ratings.

It also underscores the growing recognition that Harris may play an outsized role in what is sure to be a tough election. Republican presidential candidates have made it clear they will be using the specter of a Harris presidency as a way to hurt Joe Biden’s chances at reelection, particularly by raising questions about his age and capacity for the job.

Elsewhere:
"One of these two oldies croaking before the election is pretty much the only way we won't get Trump back in office. The good side of that is the fact that Trump probably wouldn't survive his next term anyway."

Objection to Harris (voters): she is too woke.
