Ireland would have to change language. Gaelic is an official Irish government language but to make Gaelic an official EU language maybe just going too far.

Gaelic is already Ireland's Official EU language, up to now, it just waived its right to have every Euro thing translated to Gaelic in favour of English out of convenience, but now that English is about to lose that status, it might just have to hire a big fat lot of Gaelic linguists just to satisfy the niceties of regulations....

If Scotland joins the EU, they could choose English as their official language.

Or maybe London can leave England, join the EU and bring English as an official language.

Or maybe London, Cambridge and all other of the major cities that voted Remain, leave England and join the EU.

There was an ad in the Irish papers a couple of months ago looking for 850 Gaelic speakers for the EU.

I just wonder who will ever read all these Gaelic documents, as I guess the MEPs and civil servants all prefer English anyway

There are plenty snobby Gaels who would love to read it. The problem with Gaelic is that Irish and Scots Gaelic are different written.

it's not just a matter of spelling, plenty of vocabulary variances too, and I don't know about grammar... but I don't think even an Ulster Gaelic speaker can still understand a Scottish Gaelic speaker
