Re: The Coronavirus Thread
A lockdown at xmas was always on the cards. The explosion in official figures cant be explained. We had a programme on the tellie last night with a load of experts trying to explain the whys and whatfors regarding the lockdown but no one could give a reason for the sudden increase.
The supposed mandatory wearing of facemasks was "imposed" on the 1st December for indoors and public transport. But it has had the contrary effect of making people over confident and nobody is social distancing.
As the cafe owners have pointed out they have been closed for three weeks. Someone pointed out that this has resulted in plenty of large groups gathering in homes where numbers cant be supervised and it would have better keeping the cafes open where numbers could have been supervised.
It is winter and people after months of hearing nothing but crisis are really fed up and fewer and fewer are not keeping to the rules. Restricting numbers is uncontrollable and counter productive. Xmas here is a huge family event here without presents (though presents under the tree has increased(Another bloody Americanism)) and plenty are holding breaths as to what will be the result.
Another reason for the lockdown is the fact that Germany is having one and that if our shops stayed open they would attract far too many of our eastern neighbours.
The conclusion was an earlier intelligent lockdown would have been more effective. This chaos will probably cost Rutte the election.

Yes, the latter should be called conspiracy hypothesis, but the distinction is lost on people who obtain their education from the likes of Pool, Crowder and the denizens of Parler.pErvinalia wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:35 amConspiracy =/= conspiracy theory. In fact "theory" is a misnomer.

Nine,
Purely conjecture. We dont know the right way to approach this virus as every situation is unique.
You cant make a list of rules as that operates counter productively. The next virus could be a completely different beast. Lockdowns dont work in a densely populated modern society. Comparing Australia to the Netherlands is ridiculous. Both are opposites on almost all levels.

I still don't know what you were getting at, but Russian Collusion by the Trump team was a conspiracy theory, and I think some ass-hat got a Pulitzer for it lolpErvinalia wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 7:35 amConspiracy =/= conspiracy theory. In fact "theory" is a misnomer.

Covfefe-19 is a virulent coronavirus with an highly infectious 1-2 week asymptomatic period, and is primarily transmitted by proximity in circumstances where indoors and/or longer exposures are statistically more risky than outdoors and/or shorter exposures. What is it you don't understand about this?Scot Dutchy wrote:Nine,

Vaccines, lockdowns or masks - nothing can stop what is coming.
Heck, AIDS needed privacy and injection to spread, and humans managed to spread it widely anyway.

What a "brave" video that is. It's so hard to imply people are scared instead of cowardly engaging their views.

That one's better, but the one Cunt posted isn't as good. Of course, comedy is hard.
