I may end up doing the training, just out of interest...

Meeting tomorrow night, then I'll know what is happening next week...

I'll go into the Camp (in a city park) on Monday at lunchtime. I'll meet with our local group, then there will be a civil disobedience march into the CBD, to occupy various crossroads. The "arrestables" will sit in the middle of the road, the rest of us will support them. In a fortnight, there is a local festival with a STEM focus - our XR group is going to have a stall. I'll make up some posters with climate change graphs etc.

I put up a placard on our front fence:

I'm kind of working up my nerve. They have special training sessions, which I think I might do, then I might well go the whole hog...

I think the only reason now is that he doesn't want to get super glue on his cardie.

I'm going to be super busy the next two weeks or so. If I don't post for a while don't fret - it'll just be the confluence of battery life and internet data.

Well, I went, and we all (2 to 3 thousand) marched through the city, very noisily, and blocked a variety of intersections for 15 minutes at a time. Close police presence, but no arrests, at least by the time I left.

I've made a start on my climate science posters for our stall in a couple of weeks.

Training on Thursday for on-street police liaison role followed immediately by de-escalation training. I wonder why...

That's true - but they're just people too and their kids are being thrown under the bus along with everybody else's.

Yeah, some of our marshals were dedicated police liaison roles. I might consider that training - must remember not to do the 70's protest thing, and go "oink oink"... :tea:

I'm reminded of a recent tiff between Brisbane and Melbourne ER groups over Brisbane's declaration that the filth deserve no respect as they are just tools of the repressive state. The socialists might have temporarily gained the reins at Brisbane ER...
