Missouri Republicans are on a roll. Just proposed: A bill making it illegal to help a woman with an ectopic pregnancy by providing any sort of abortifacient (among other things). Ectopic pregnancies have no chance of producing a viable outcome, and are extremely dangerous to the woman--can be fatal if left untreated. Onward, Christian soldiers!

inflation 1981.jpg
The republicans keep blasting about "highest inflation for 40 years." Only it was higher than now in 1981. And 1979 even over 10%.

On Twitter:
I’m hearing from the dark edges of the inter-webs that Ted Cruz is actually a Cuban communist mole created by Hillary Clinton to make all Republicans look dopey, hypocritical, slightly overweight, ridiculous, and always on the wrong side of history. Whatever you do do not spread this conspiracy theory to any of your Republican friends. it is definitely true, as I will attest, because I have absolutely no evidence to support it.

1981 was 41 years ago.

But 40 years has no more meaning than 39 or 41.

A very interesting ABC article about the "Putin wing" of the GOP...

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-03-13/ ... /100902786
On the eve of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, conservative media commentator Tucker Carlson used his nightly Fox News platform to ask why the Democratic establishment was being hostile towards Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Since the day that Donald Trump became president, Democrats in Washington have told you it’s your patriotic duty to hate Vladimir Putin," Carlson said.

"Anything less than hatred for Putin is treason."

He mused that hating Putin had become "the central purpose of America’s foreign policy", which, he argued, could force the United States into a conflict in Eastern Europe — something no one from either side of politics has called for.

Mr Carlson insisted his audience ask themselves: "Why do I hate Putin so much? Has Putin ever called me a racist?"

A day earlier, former US president Donald Trump shared an equally unusual take on a conservative radio show, seeming to praise Putin’s "peacekeeping" operation in Ukraine’s separatist-held regions of Donetsk and Luhansk as "genius" and "very savvy".

"How smart is that?" Mr Trump asked.

"There were more army tanks than I've ever seen. They're going keep peace all right."
Nurse, where the fuck's my cardigan?
And my gin!
