That's a put-up job. It's just a way of getting free advertising.

Or the age thing in Britain what goes in the cup first? Milk or tea. For my grandfather it was a capital offence. Milk was always first.

uh what,? Tea goes first, then just enough milk to cloud it, doing it the other way would have shocked my prim, late, and regretted grandmother...

Well my cockney grandfather would not agree. Tea also had to be bright orange and stood at least 15 minutes. I would dread to think what we call a cup of tea here. A glass of hot water and one of the many flavours that are available in a triangular tea bag.

If your saw my grandfather's tea pot it was not. A big earthen ware one. A quarter pound (110 grams) of tea went in.

I'll grant that I make my tea in barbarian style, but put that much tea for so long in a pot that contained how much? a quart? a half gallon? that is definitely quite barbarous.

Cockneys liked their tea and there was always a pot brewing.

1066 was supposed to solve that.

My family came from Normandy and fought along side William and were given lands in England. The rich branch of the family is still there.

My grandmother's family is Norman too, but we never invaded England, the earliest I can find them, they were some kind of non noble military personnel during the crusades, a military tradition that seems to have been kept asz we were ennobled in 1599 by letters patent from King Henry IV... they say the family was filthy rich, which I can believe, as by the time of Louis XIV, an ancestor of mine is said to have bought himself a charge as a colonel in one of the King's own bodyguard regiments, and to have served well enough to be given one of the KIng's bastard daughters by Louise de la Vallière to marry...
