It seems the guy was able to get guns because the military wouldn't share it's data on the criminal activity of him with the civil authorities.

Also, my suspicion was right: The church is the place where his wife's family usually visit. He was mad at his wife's family. No info so far why...

Guy seems to have been a recent convert to atheism, maybe there was discussion about the religious education of the child? Waiting for Richard Dawkins to make a statement distancing himself from the guy

You'd think that if we got over smoking we could eventually get over guns. It's got to be getting harder to pass yourself off as cool for having a gun, right? --right? :sigh:

Fighting cigarettes involved banning them from the screen. Can you imagine cinema and television without guns?

It seems that the US military has its own criminal justice system with its own police, courts and prisons. Why is an issue such as domestic violence not dealt with by the normal police, court system, etc, but a separate system for military personnel?

Well, the uncool part includes a warning. Those carrying the gun to wal Mart, where I don’t go, are saying they communicate with the gun. So these people are not interested in resolving a conflict by other means. I now avoid all of them. If I see pick ups parked where I bird, I don’t go there. I know the cars and a few trucks of all local birders.

Texas shooting: Gunman 'escaped mental hospital in 2012'

The gunman who killed 26 churchgoers in Texas escaped a mental health clinic in 2012, according to a police report.

El Paso officers who detained Devin Kelley five years ago were told he was "a danger to himself and others".

Kelley had been sent to the hospital after he was court-martialled for assaulting his ex-wife and stepson during a stint in the US Air Force.
He was "attempting to carry out death threats" against "his military chain of command", the report states.

Officials say the assault charge should have legally barred him from owning guns.

(continued, recent changes to medication? and/or medication cover?)
What will the world be like after its ruler is removed?

Probably for those currently serving. They may be with family abroad and you would need to bring them home for trial. The drunken soldiers in Japan are punished there.

“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar
