I think you are missing the point. Just because someone gets elected the boss of their club doesn't mean that the rest of the country's clubs are going to allow him to be the boss of them too.

Labour policies under Corbyn will no doubt be laudable, progressive and about social justice, but what's the point of that if they never get to put those polices into practice?

..and they won't be, barring some unforeseen economic disaster throwing out the Tories.
How can you know what I'm missing from my comment? MY point is calling anyone who votes for or supports Corbyn a Corbynista is silly, dismissive and unproductive. It's a way to label someone as a fan or follower and discount or invalidate their voices.

Well I certainly didn't use the word 'Corbynista' - and wouldn't. And apologies if I made a leap in interpreting your comment. I was making assumptions based on other posts you have made about him.

Yes, Tory voters.

We haven't really touched on the real issue here in my opinion. Thing is that a 'middle of the road' Labour government can actually get things done. It may be getting into the realms of history to some of you guys but for me the memory of what Blair and Brown did is still with me. They may have been on the right of the Labour movement but they siphoned huge amounts of money from the richest - the City to a great extent and spent it on hospitals and schools as well as a wide range of social services. Being in the education field myself during that time I saw the direct benefits of that. It was quite dramatic at the time.

When the so called coalition got in all of that went in the name of austerity of course.

Point is - if you can't get voted in, you can't do fuck all. And Corbyn won't be able to form an electable government that can get in. End result - a load of lefties feeling good about going on protest marches.

Solidarity indeed.

Of course he won't get in people like you will ensure he doesn't .
and Blair did fuck all good BTW, almost nothing that a moderate conservative would not have done.

When Margaret Thatcher was asked what she regarded as her greatest achievement, she is said to have replied: “New Labour”.

It doesn't say they are voters. It says they would consider voting. That's not the same thing. Not least because they are free to decide to stay in bed on voting day without consequence. In Australia, when someone says they will vote for party XYZ, they actually would as voting is compulsory. So the poll is going to be far more accurate.

Perhaps he's unelectable now, but there is always a chance that people may grow to prefer such policies in the future, particularly if the Tories are not clever.

But of course, they may be clever...

I think sometimes you Aussies are just too far from Europe when it comes to politics. Corbyn has not got a snowball's chance in hell of ever becoming PM. He is the wrong man. He looks and sounds like a shop steward. He also has the whole of British media world against him. Remember he has been a leader for a year already.

Corbyn's biggest problem is his support. A vile, intolerant lot.
