Possibly, but we don't know, do we? Why doesn't he release the records?

OK... will you honestly claim that bush the younger could have gone to yale if his dad had not been an alumnus, and probably able to grease the wheels with some generosity in excess of just the tuition fees that would have been expected of a straight A student?

I don't know if the extra grease was actually applied, though that seems likely, unless that grease came in old boys network and skull and crossbone form rather than as greenbacks.

No. But, why would you assume I would claim that? We know how Bush got into Yale, and we know how well he did. Why shouldn't we know that about Obama?

He got into St. Phillips Academy in Andover based on his grades previously, which were reported to be "A level" grades, and he was an athlete and a class officer. His dad went to Andover too, so he did get legacy points because they prefer children of alumni.
Yale, like Andover, gave a helping hand to alumni sons in the admission process—far more than now—and it seems unlikely that Bush would have been admitted into Yale otherwise. There were no class rankings at Andover, but George never made honor roll even one term, unlike 110 boys in his class. His SAT scores were 566 for the verbal part and 640 for math. Those were far below the median scores for students admitted to his class at Yale: 668 verbal and 718 math. As he graduated from Andover, George was not a finalist in voting for "most likely to succeed," "most respected," "politico," or any of the other main categories.

Bush's transcript at Yale shows that he was a solid C student. Although a history major, he sampled widely in the social sciences and did poorly in political science and economics while achieving some of his best grades (the equivalent of a B+) in philosophy and anthropology. The transcript indicates that in Bush's freshman year, the only year for which rankings were available, he was in the twenty-first percentile of his class—meaning that four-fifths of the students were above him. Yet at the same time that he was earning Cs at Yale, Bush displayed a formidable intelligence in another way. At his induction into the Delta Kappa Epsilon (DKE) fraternity, he and others were asked to name all fifty-four pledges in the room. Most were were able to name only five or six. When it was Bush's turn, he named every single one. Later he rose to become president of DKE, and he was also tapped into Skull and Bones, an elite secret society to which his father had also belonged.

While not the best student, his SAT scores and general record reveal him to be likely above-average intelligence. He got like a total of 1240 on the SATs which is way above average. He was a hard partying rich kid who went to daddy's alma maters. Big deal? Half the incoming classes of Ivy League schools do the same, and if one were to look to English prep schools and universities, especially at the time, you'd see even less egalitarianism...

I've always been most intrigued by the way the birthers fail to explain how the birth announcements showed up in two Hawaii newspapers at the time of his birth. Do they think the Obama administration has access to a DeLorean, a flux capacitor, and 1.21 gigawatts of juice to run it on?

I wouldn't be suprised if the American people put Jerry Springer in office. That is the deceased mind set we're dealing with here. Then we can see all the "gore and bumping" ugly 24/7.

Because most of us don't give a damn about it. Since we're trying to make our livings and not have the country turn into a big shithole, the people spending so much time on that stuff will come of as having lost the plot.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

It's a wide reaching conspiracy. Send CSI to test the ink and paper on those "1961" newspapers. :funny:

When David Cameron told an opposition member to 'calm down dear', a popular reference to a car insurance advert, I thought British politics was becoming silly; however, I don't think it could ever stoop to the US level.
