Exactly! What I found interesting is where JOZ talked about similar groups in Europe (Gert Wilders etc), who were not anti-Jewish. However, I suspect that the vast majority of white supremacists in North America are very anti-Jewish. This would provide them with an interesting internal conflict when it came to arabs, given the general anti-islamic and anti-arab sentiment there, after various events...

Annual neo-Nazi march in Calgary fizzles

With the movement's foremost figure in prison for the second year in a row, an annual neo-Nazi march in Calgary has flopped.

There was plenty of anger but no violent confrontation after police kept neo-Nazi and anti-racist groups apart at parallel rallies in downtown Calgary Saturday.

About 200 members of Anti-Racist Action Calgary gathered at Calgary city hall after word that the neo-Nazi group, Blood of Honour, was planning a march.

But the 16 members of Blood of Honour, chanting “White Pride Worldwide” found their paths blocked by Calgary Police officers, including riot squad members, who cordoned off several streets in the

downtown.

A similar barricade of officers prevented members of the anti-racist group from proceeding as well, meaning the two groups could see each other a block away.

Anyway, it would be interesting to go to one of these rallies to hear what these folks have to say, although I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like what I would hear.
I did know a KKK member once. Unusual here in Massachusetts, I should think. Anyway, I didn't know him well. He was just a friend of a friend. My friend hated Jews (for no discernible reason), so that gave him something in common with this guy and they got on well. I met the guy once. He seemed normal. He said he didn't hate blacks or anything (although he probably used the word "nigger"), that he wasn't anti-black, or anti-this or ant-that. It was more that he was pro-white. I'm not sure what he meant by that exactly. I didn't ask him. I didn't really care to have a conversation with the fellow.

National Geographic is doing a series called "Inside". Two of the episodes are about white supremacists - skinheads, and Nazis in America. I haven't seen the Nazi one yet, but the one about the skinheads was pretty interesting.

These fine fellows have plenty of internet presence, so you needn't risk attending a meeting (in a trench coat with the collar turned up) to educate yourself. And, it ain't pretty. There doesn't seem to be much of the "we luv us whitie folks!" rhetoric, although there is lots of whining about the "discrimination" faced by the white race (who, of course, would NEVER even think of engaging in any themselves) and the universal hatred at gays, immigrants, natives, and everybody mentioned in
the Tom Lehrer song.
Surfing their various forums and websites you'll be amazed at the dearth of rationality (Russell was right about the human race, but it's even worse with these guys).
Some of the more eloquent sites can seem dangerously convincing. The IHR and David Irving can seem sincere, but the company they keep, and a little further digging quickly leads to disillusionment.
If, like me, you're one of those who just has to find out for himself, it's a great time waster, but then, that's what the internet is all about, isn't it? After all, look at the alternative - TELEVISION?
This whole debacle boils down to the much flogged horse called Free Speech. I waffle on the issue. Yip, hooray, I wave the flag in favour of freedom, but then I hear the rhetoric from Westboro Baptist, or David Duke, and I want to puke, and yell, "there oughtta be a law!"
Here, in Canader, we don't have freedom of speech, not like the USA. The prosecution of Ernst Zundel accomplished little other than to make him a martyr in the eyes of his followers. OTOH, things have gotten rather quiet on the neo-nazi front.
The trouble with anti-hate and antidiscrimination laws is that there are always ways found to circumvent them (the human entrepreneurial spirit?) and they go underground and employ more cunning methodology. Much like the Creationists inventing "Intelligent Design."
Perhaps letting them parade their bigotry for all to see, and countering it with truth is the solution? Trouble is, who has better media presence?
