Ted Cruz wins. Predictable, but still hard to believe that large numbers of homo sapiens can look at him and say, "yeah, he's our guy... we want him to be our leader".

Yep, but at least it was close, and the turn out for Beto means several other Republicans lost their position. Texas won't stay red forever.

New York Post:
WASHINGTON – The Florida Senate race between Democrat Bill Nelson and Republican Rick Scott is locked in a dead heat.
Scott had 50.4 percent of the vote compared to Nelson’s 49.6 percent with 98 percent of the votes tallied.
We had some local issues and did move a ridiculously tiny bit towards Democrats. Not as much as Kansas did:

Re: US 2018 November elections
I'm sure as hell not seeing a Tsunami of any color.
DeSantis gets Fla. Governor, so no Progressive agenda in Crackerville, thank you Baby Jesus, and both the state Senate and House remain firmly under GOP control. For U.S. Senate, it's Reptilian Rick Scott over Undead Bill Nelson, his win gives the Republicans a solid majority in the Senate. Guess all the pollsters were wrong again, well smack my ass and call me a biscuit, whooda thunk it?
On the many state constitutional amendments, it looks like we're giving voting rights back to felons, getting rid of greyhound racing, capping non-homestead property valuation increases, and my personal favorite - requiring a 2/3 majority in both houses of the state legislature to raise taxes. Good luck getting 2/3 of them to agree on whether it's raining outside. So no state income tax, EVER. Hell Yeah! On the downside, the idiotic Sarasota county voters have approved a massive (like 65 million) bond issue to build - wait for it - a fucking bike trail for tourists. Enjoy your new property taxes, you wet-brained imbeciles, you deserve to lose your homes. I don't care, actually, because we're out of here in the next couple of years, but I'll certainly enjoy hearing them whine later.

We have a city of 260 000 in a county of maybe About 300 000. For the first time the city council and county commission do not need to fight. They are both now in Democrat hands.

Re: US 2018 November elections
If you think about it, the 2/3 requirement for tax increases pretty much kills the chances for any progressive or far left agenda in the state, at least until the Dems get MASSIVE majorities in both houses or pull off another constitutional amendment. You just can't give away all that free shit without raising taxes. Gillum was also going to damn near double state corporate tax, and that won't happen now either, so we might pull a few more big companies down here from Tax-Happy Yankeeland and the Farleft Coast. All potential good news for us Floridians.
All CNN can talk about is how difficult the Democratic House is going to make life for Trump, that's all they've got to look forward to. 2 years of Maxine shrieking and Pelosi drooling on herself. The Petulance Meter will be pegged in the red.
All in all a satisfying election. Nobody got massive majorities so nobody gets to shove an agenda down anybody's throat. Trump won't get his wall, the Dems won't get impeachment, and we'll go back to gridlock. Gridlock is good. Sometimes the best thing the Feds can do for the country is sweet fuck-all.

Florida has a "far left"?

Jesus! Even after all of the racism, sexism, homophobia, rise in hate crimes and extreme white supremacist groups and domestic terrorism, sexual assault and rape and apologetics of such, murders, child incarceration and abuse, anti-Semitism, incompetence, job losses, inflation of the deficit, lies, attacks on the sick and poor, etc. people still vote for scumbag Republicans.
Glad I didn't get any hopes up. The US remains a rogue state which can't be trusted.

The Russians must have had a field day. I wonder how much the Repugs paid to keep the Senate.
I just wish Americans would stop using the word democracy. It is making it very dirty.
One from Orwell: "In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act".
There has been no revolution.

Paid? They don't have to pay.

The Democrats might never hold the Senate again. The Senate is so broken that one party can get 11 million more votes than the other one and lose seats. The president can get 3 million more votes and lose, thanks to the electoral college. The Dems can get more votes in House races than the Republicans and lose seats, because Republicans are more ruthless with gerrymandering. Our whole system of government is fundamentally broken and there is no hope of fixing it because to fix it would require help from the Republicans, but there is no incentive for them to fix it because they are the ones who benefit. Then there’s the Senate. Because of its bias toward smaller, rural states, a resident of Wyoming has 66 times the voting power in Senate elections as one in California. Thus, in 2016, the Democratic party got 51.4 million votes for its Senate candidates. The Republicans got 40 million. And despite losing by more than 11 million votes, the Republicans won a supermajority (22 of 36) of the seats up for election, holding their majority in the chamber.
Bernie's policies are most popular, and yet we have Trump instead. It's absurd. It would be hilarious if the habitability of the planet wasn't at stake.

That's the bloody problem.
The House of Reps has limited powers? Not enough to really change anything.
