Don't you do strategical voting? Looking what two candidates have the best chance and then voting the one of the two you hate least?

Given the chance yes. Last election was a straight race between Labour and Conservative in my constituency. Labour lost by around 10% of the overall vote. The other parties were nowhere in sight.

So Labour - with a new and pretty attractive candidate look like a real possibility here.

I think it would be gloriously funny, even if the Tories still win, if they get fewer or even round about the same number of seats. But it's impossible to guess what's going to happen. The polls have an enormous margin of error between them all, and the propaganda in the print media has been so outrageous it's hard to judge whether it'll have put more people off than it's persuaded. Pretty much the only thing they're not predicting is a large Labour majority - so perhaps that's what will happen.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

Hmmm. Is the ratification in UK law of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights via the implementation of certain and particular human right obligations embodied in the European Union charter really stopping the government or the security services from acting?
This illustrates some of my points in another thread. (A caveat first - although there might be some parts of her potential actions I might support, I suspect she would want to go much further than I would accept in terms of demolishing legal protections...)

The point is that conservative politicians are sensing a rising wave of anger and anti-muslim sentiment, and want to ride it as far as it will take them, which could take the UK (or Oz) to some potentially nasty places indeed. I argue that there needs to be some highly visible actions by both authorities and the muslim community which will reassure people that real progress is being made, and reduce the pressure for more extreme solutions.
The only place rising anti-muslim sentiment will lead is to a Muslim FREE country, where Muslims realize they are unwanted and peacefully relocate to a Muslim country where they live happily ever, meh who cares as long as you are rid of them :hehe:
Yeah, and send all the Christians and Jews back to Palestine, and the Buddhists back to China, and all the Scientologists back to... reality. Lol.

Nazis still are generally quite fine with Muslims, and vice versa. They've a long and close alliance, all the way back to the Grand Mufti and such in the run up to World War 2.

The connection between Muslims and Nazis in World War II is greatly overrated in islamophobic circles. There was a much larger number of Muslims fighting on the side of the Allied than on the side of the Axis. The antisemitic propaganda by the Nazis in the Arab world mostly started to play out after the end of World War II.

Bloody stupid UK elections makes me stay up all night to wait for the results. Decent German system means the results are nearly always already clear at 6pm or at least around 9 or 10pm.

It's go go go here on the tele. Got the UK election on and about to get live coverage of Comey's testimony to congress. I hope drops a giant turd of the desk.
