Re: Hard Brexit or Hard Brexit
The EU should discuss trade. It cant make any deal (if it wanted to which I doubt) until the UK leaves the EU and becomes a third country and joins the queue of countries wanting to make a FTA with EU. It wont get preferential treatment. It will have to try and trade under the WTO but it may get kicked out as the are countries that may object to the UK's presence and use it as leverage to get what it wants out of the UK. Argentina is a good example.

Re: Hard Brexit or Hard Brexit
The UK may have agreed to various EU projects, and being a member, to fund it's share of them.
As a member.
As a non-member, you are not part of the project, and consequently not part of the funding.
It's down to the EU to either trim the projects, to reflect the smaller EU, or to find the extra money from the remaining members.
It may be possible to offer the UK the benefits of such projects, if that were possible, so that we aren't paying for something we won't be getting. If not possible, then they might want to make some other offer.
But the bottom line is that we pay our commitments in full, up to the day we leave. After that we are non-members and don't legally have to fund anything.
They've got two years to adjust their spending to the new levels of income. Plenty of time.

You have contracts and commitments. Even after you have left and gone into the desert. They are all binding.

The fun part about it is that the UK has 160 of those toys. Between Austria, Germany, Italy and Spain there are twice as many. France is sticking with its Dassaults and the rest of the EU nations is struggling to keep various WWI vintage biplanes serviceable.

Them were the days. My first plane flight was in one of these with Air Anglia. Non pressurised low flying. A real flight. From Turnhouse Airport (this picture), Edinburgh to the old Schiphol Aiport.

A Fokker Friendship.
The old Schiphol Airport.

Yeah, that was the good old days. A cold cabin so noisy you couldn't hear yourself think, and you kept your fingers crossed that the bloke across the aisle with the persistent cough didn't have TB.

Too true but you did get real food with real knives and forks and porcelain plates. The trip took almost two hours then. Today the do it in 50 mins.

My first flight was in a Fokker Friendship too. Subsequent takeoffs on jet liners were not nearly as thrilling. Turning on the approach to my destination gave me the impression that the pilot's previous gig was with the Roulettes.
