There was a tokoloshe in the lab who messed with the results because the lab assistants weren't praying enough. Magufuli fixed this by deploying a task force of priests, pastors, imams and shamans into the laboratories to get rid of the tokoloshe.rainbow wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 10:04 amA pawpaw in Tanzania caught it.Brian Peacock wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 9:52 amAs far as I'm aware fruit and veg are immune to the virus.![]()

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
No agreement on second wave.
'One big wave' – why the Covid-19 second wave may not exist
'One big wave' – why the Covid-19 second wave may not exist
Those masks are really helping:With no evidence of seasonal variations, the WHO warns the initial coronavirus pandemic is continuing and accelerating
The Covid-19 pandemic is currently unfolding in “one big wave” with no evidence that it follows seasonal variations common to influenza and other coronaviruses, such as the common cold, the World Health Organization has warned.
Amid continued debates over what constitutes a second wave, a resurgence or seasonal return of the disease, Margaret Harris, a WHO spokesperson, insisted that these discussions are not a helpful way to understand the spread of the disease.
“People are still thinking about seasons. What we all need to get our heads around is this is a new virus and this one is behaving differently,” Harris told a virtual briefing in Geneva, urging vigilance in applying measures to slow transmission that appears to be accelerated by mass gatherings.
Got keep that paranoia going. Masks here are not going to be compulsory nationally.Cases are rising in Spain, Germany, France and Belgium
With no agreed-upon scientific definition, the term “second wave” has been used to mean anything from localised spikes in infection to full-blown national crises, leading some experts to avoid it.
“‘Second wave’ isn’t a term that we would use [in epidemiology] at the current time, as the virus hasn’t gone away, it’s in our population, it has spread to 188 countries so far, and what we are seeing now is essentially localised spikes or a localised return of a large number of cases,” said Linda Bauld, professor of public health at the University of Edinburgh.

For Germany, the new infections happen where people don't wear masks. Family celebrations, church services, schools (masks not mandatory in the class room), shared accommodations, ...
I have been to the city centre of Mannheim Saturday evening. Lots of people don't wear masks. Restaurants are packed, even indoors. Guests don't wear masks. Servers mostly also don't wear masks, although it would be mandatory. People ignore the rules. People are so stupid.

I'm most amazed. A few years ago in Aachen, I was told off for walking across the road against a red right when there was no traffic and it was snowing.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
There is no evidence that masks work. They even have the reverse effect and become sources of infection. They create a false sense of security. It is pure psychological. Where are the mask protocols? Which mask is safe? Most countries make them mandatory as a "just in case" rule but they end up as a primary measure which is bollocks.NineBerry wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 9:01 amFor Germany, the new infections happen where people don't wear masks. Second wave just refers to the shape of a graph - an observation that in the contexts there's a 'return of a large number of cases'.Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 8:55 am...Got keep that paranoia going. Care to provide some empirical data? Serious question. They're not mandatory in Netherlands, therefore they don't work.
