Trump is asking others to do what he will not: Buy American. He's a fucking hypocrite. There is nothing infantile about pointing that out.

I don't see how wanting our manufacturing to become competitive makes it hypocritical to continue using manufacturing in China.

Yeah sure, buy American if you can afford it, or if it's really worth it.

What manufacturing jobs is he going to bring back that aren't going to necessitate a loss??
How the hell should I know? That's for smart people to figure out. And I bet even they don't know how to get it back.

We'll probably just have to forget the whole thing, focus on the few who can develop something else to export, adopt some sort of universal income, and then put the rest of us to work as servants of the greater good in our communities. :hehe:

Or, we could tell China sorry, can't pay you back, won't pay you back. If we do that we should do it now. Ya know that's what we've been building for. If we delay the rot will set in and it will become impossible to refuse to pay. :worried:

Trump is saying neither. Rather than make American manufacturing competitive he threatens to build tariff walls and enact other punitive measures. As for saying "buy American if you can afford it", look at his cars. He owns 11. Among them are 2 Rolls-Royces, 2 Mercedes-Benzes, 1 Maybach, 1 Lamborghini, and 1 Ferrari. That's 2 British, 3 German, and 2 Italian cars.

Is there any chance he thought they were American cars? We are the greatest country on Earth after all.

Nice evasion. The fact remains that exhorting others to buy American, but importing most of his own stuff from overseas makes Trump a hypocrite, and pointing that out is not infantile.

Everyone in America who says buy American buys things that were made overseas. Their houses are probably full of that toxic Chinese drywall... :worried: We're all just a bunch of hypocrites.

It could be argued that "Buy American" has long been code for I sympathize with our loss of jobs due to manufacturing going overseas, and not as real talk about a solution to bringing it back.

Trump in a Lamborghini. -seriously, do we have pictures of that?

The US are importing everything, capital included.
The US, its current-account deficit and the rest of the world

Dunno, but here is one of him filling the tank of another one he owned in 1995.

Sounds like the problem isn't us lefties then, eh?

The sole reason manufacturing left the developed world for the developing world is cost. You simply can't create most things for the same or cheaper cost in the west without tariffs and subsidies. No manufacturers are coming back unless he slaps up trade barriers. And if he does that prices for everything will go up.

Trump's America. Florida Republican, in a bout of Trump-enabled, and encouraged, white supremacy, tells African constituents looking for reparations, to go home to Africa.
