Of course it's democratic. But, obviously, it's not a pure democracy, which is just fine. It's a system which takes into account a variety of stakeholders and policy judgments.

It's just fine. Only, you don't vote for who becomes Prime Minister. Your head of government is chosen by the Parliament, which would be like the US choosing its head of government by vote of Congress. A fine system, of course. But, an electoral college which votes based on the will expressed by various states is somewhat more democratic in that respect.
“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

Any Austrian artists rejected from French art schools in the running? Preferably with some military experience.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

None. The position is elected by the Bundesversammlung, a group made of the members of federal parliament and an equal number of VIPs elected by the members of state parliaments.

Not really. Steinmeier is a social democrat politician, former secretary of state, was supported by most of the major parties. Conservatives, Social Democrats, Liberals and Greens. He got more than 900 votes.

Butterwege got more than 100 votes. He was the candidate of the far-left party. He's a political scientist, former professor at a university specialising in social systems.

Glaser, candidate of the far-right AfD got about 40 votes. Former politician of the conservative party who had switched to the AfD. Caused big financial losses for the city of Frankfurt when he was responsible for its finances by illegally putting money of the city into the stock market.

Alexander Hold got 25 votes. Candidate of a regional Bavarian conservative-liberal party. He's a former tv judge.

Engelbert Sonneborn, candidate of the satire party "Die Partei" and of the Pirate Party, father of the satirist and member of European parliament Martin Sonneborn, got 10 votes.
