Of all the deadly shit in Australia, that's something I'm glad we don't get here. We do get tornados from time to time, but nothing like the ones you get in the US. Same with Earthquakes. But I guess the cyclones, sharks, snakes, crocodiles, jellyfish, and heat make up for it... :/

We get micro tornadoes all the time during summer. While travelling on a plain (we have plenty of that in Australia) you can see half a dozen ochre dust columns traversing them at a time. They are pretty harmless. The worst damage I have seen was when one of them entered my garden at the bottom left corner, made its way to the front and ripped the door off one of my two tin sheds along the way. It had come and gone in about two or three seconds. The door got all twisted when it was torn off the jamb. I never replaced it because it was always left open anyway.
In other news, the share of the forecast 5 - 10 millimetre deluge in my neighbourhood was postponed. It turned up at 2 this morning and was done before sunrise. My rain gauge indicates that it amounted to 8 mm of drizzle. Meanwhile, Tasmania had the worst floods since 1929.
The Mersey river in Tasmania was a bit wider and flowed a bit faster than usual yesterday.
