The word 'superior' will soon be banned as it applies to one's position in a hierarchy. It is still used in the armed forces, the police and the like but it is slowly going in the civilian sector.

It has connotations of the 'superior' somehow being a superior better and of course that will never do..

I'm not sure it would be politically incorrect today. More of a social bloomer than a crime against political correctness. But I agree about the word superior.

There's nothing wrong with it, if there is a hierarchy in a formal kind of organisation.
If you insult a superior at work, or refuse an instruction, you can get sacked.
To me, it means that their POSITION in the organisation is superior.
Not them personally.

I agree completely with this. But the line creeps forward by the year. Here in the UK the term 'handicapped' was in common use twenty years ago. Now people turn pale if you use the word. You have to use the word 'disabled' at the very least if not something even more circumlocutory.

All very good, except that if you just knuckle down to every sensitive soul who decides that they are now offended by words that used to be ok, you end up just like the sheeple that I've heard so much about.

My dad never used any word, other than nigger, for black people.
Back then, we used to tell him off, and try to get him to say negro.
Now, if you said negro, you'd get some pretty hard stares.
