Skull cracker got caught today. It looks like he might have pulled a bank job for a handful of cash in the morning, and then hid in a cemetery among the gravestones, where he got spotted.

He's going to pay a huge price for two or three days of ''freedom''. He would have been out on licence in less than a year, if he'd kept his nose clean.
Now the life element of a life sentence will kick in. I'm betting he'll do at least another ten years now, for those few days on the outside. Maybe more, if it was him who hit the bank.

And nobody needed a gun. Amazing.

Fact is that everyone was in grave danger so long as he was free and EVERYONE needed a gun. But nobody had one. Pure fucking luck.

Presumably if you were caught going around with a full size at the moment and didn't have a good reason it would count as an offensive weapon (with serious jail time). Almost certainly wandering around and not being a paramedic on the off chance someone might have a heart attack would not be a good reason

Nope. Perfectly legal. That's what's nice about the AED, you can't hurt someone with it, it's fully automatic and computer controlled and won't administer a shock until it's analyzed the heart and finds a shock necessary.

Even an idiot like you can use one because they will literally talk you through the process using an artificial voice. You put the pads on the victims chest as indicated and the device does the rest, including recording heart activity in a digital file for the doctor at the ER to review.

I suppose you could smack someone with it, but it's smaller than a briefcase or a large purse. Only an idiot would worry more about it being used as a weapon than its potential for saving lives, but that's no real surprise coming from you.

On the news just now. He has been charged with being in possession of an IMITATION firearm.

So the whole country was in terrible danger of being bashed with a toy.

But actually, this is a wakeup call that the US could learn from. Ban realistic imitation weapons.

What part of "one life sentence should be for life, much less 13" do you need help with. At this point it's obviously a matter of public safety and sanitation to prevent any possibility of recidivism from this particular offender, which is, if nothing else, one thing the death penalty is good for. Why do your idiotic representatives even bother to sentence someone to 13 life sentences and then put him in a walkabout minimium-security facility? Because they are pandering to the sheeple, who demand "harsh sentences" for such criminals, but who aren't willing to pay what it costs to administer them and some of whom are bleeding-heart liberals who think that someone who gets 13 life sentences can be "rehabilitated" somehow and therefore shouldn't get a bullet in the back of the head, which is the proper way of dealing with intractably violent and dangerous criminals.

No, everyone who comes into contact with him is in grave danger. Since it's impossible to predict which particular person or persons he may come into contact with during one of his "walkies," or which of those individuals might become the focus of his murderous rage, it is therefore true that every person needs defensive weapons which they can use should they come into contact with him, or with someone else equally dangerous. That's the thing that sheeple simply cannot comprehend, danger lurks, not everywhere, but somewhere, and nobody knows when it's going to jump out of the bushes at you, so every person needs to acknowledge, train and equip to deal with such dangers in order to survive if and when it happens to them. Sheeple just stand there dumbly and get turned into corpses because they don't think it can or will ever happen to them.

As far as life sentences go, you won't get many people supporting the concept over here. It's a fucking joke, calling it a life sentence. It has hardly any meaning.

The only thing that is related to life, is that when you get out on parole from a life sentence, you're never back to square one. The sentence can be kicked back in, if you transgress.
That's what I meant when I said that his life element will kick back in. He's transgressed, and even if he's innocent of the bank job, his life sentence will re-commence and he'll have to jump through a lot of hoops, to ever see the outside again.

But it's still bollocks. There's nothing wrong with a sentence of that sort, but don't call it a life sentence. It's not.
They do have a variant, where the recommendation is a whole of life in prison. That's rare and contentious. It shouldn't be.

I think the US does handle it better. In SOME cases.
But I have a love for the FBI Files tv program. And I've seen cases where people have been hunted down for something awful, and it turns out they had killed previously, and done about four years.
The one guy I'm thinking of was hunted living rough in the woods down south for a year or more. Can't remember the name.

But it's a fallacy to claim that the US always puts people away for life, for murder. They don't.
It's pretty haphazard. Especially with the moronic plea-bargaining that goes on.
