Exactly. I would have been far more likely to boycott Amazon if they refused to sell the book.
They have done. It is no longer on sale.

Amazon haven't censored it, they've removed to to avoid harming their business if a real boycott spreads. It's just a pragmatic decision.

The bottom line trumps principles once again.

So, will those of you who protested vehemently that it shouldn't be removed be boycotting Amazon now? ;)

I buy from Amazon cos it's convenient, cheap and large enough to have some really obscure items in stock. I'm not going to boycott it just for something as daft as wether they stock a single book that I'm not at all interested in. If it turned out they were donating to the catholic church, or were owned by Rupert Murdoch, I might think again.

My husband buys tons of books through Amazon. I buy a lot of stuff online but I don't buy much from Amazon for no particular reason. I do use it a lot as a shopping information resource though.

I'm actually half-interested in what the book actually SAYS now. There are people out there who hold that sexual relations between adults and minors (or humans and non-humans) needn't be abusive per se - and from a purely rational, hypothetical standpoint - they have a valid kinda point, there. It will likely remain forever an ethical can of worms - and I wouldn't demonise anyone who does, earnestly, open it…

On the other hand, if this book simply contains pointers on how to manipulate vulnerable children, and then bully them and abuse them horribly, physically and psychologically, all to the ends of getting your rocks off - please excuse me while I go have a vomitting fit before considering my next move…
Then they for sudden joy did weep,
And I for sorrow sung,
That such a king should play bo-peep,
And go the fools among.
Prithee, nuncle, keep a schoolmaster that can teach
thy fool to lie: I would fain learn to lie.

It just goes to show you that the average person only cares about free speech and is angered by censorship when it doesn't inconvenience them. If it does however, its not that big of a deal, now is it? ;)

Is not selling something censorship?

If I verify the removal, I'll be buying my books at Barnes & Noble.

He is not able to sell his work on the biggest media outlet for his medium. If a book was taken down because it was religious or anti-religious in nature I promise you this would change the entire way people look at this event. Call it a business choice if you want to, I view it as censorship.
