Every time someone walks or drives by and does this...especially when they just yell "woooo" or the like I am so confused. What is the point/goal/benefit? :dono:

It's easier than wearing a shirt that says, "I'm a fucking loser with whom no one would ever have sex?"

I know, I'm so glad we embrace our lewdness here.

I still think women should turn it on the men and just cat call back, only with a bullhorn and something especially embarrassing.

I used to work with cunts like on building sites. It was so annoying, I'd have to turn away when they done it and try distance myself.

Whistles, catcalls and lewd come-ons from strangers are all too familiar to New York City women, who say they are harassed multiple times a day as they walk down the street. Now lawmakers are examining whether to do something to discourage it.

Is this just a way to legislate the convention that certain things ought not to be said while a lady is present?
Carrie Goodman, 27, a student who lives in Manhattan, said she hears a whistle or comment "once or twice a day."
"It bothers me, but I just keep walking," she said. Goodman is skeptical that lawmakers can do anything about it, though.
"You can't really control what comes out of people's mouths," she said.
On the flip side....
"Too commonly, street harassment is believed to be the price women pay for living in New York City," said its executive director, Emily May. "But we're not buying it.
" Well, isn't listening to things we don't want to hear the price everyone pays for going out in public?
How pissed off would they be if no-one whistled? :ask:
I'm sure it is the ones that nobody whistles at that are complaining about it as usual.

I'm probably going to have my feminist card taken away from me for saying this, but I like getting whistled at. A nicely timed "Hey baby" can make my morning.

Now, that's different from getting grabbed, or followed, or having some man trail you in his truck while saying, "I wanna fuck you in your fat ass"-- all of which have also happened to me in New York. I could do with less of that. But honestly, I've experienced a lot more of the former than the latter, and as for the other stuff, well, I'm a big girl-- I'm not going to lose my little mind and fall to pieces just because some men are creeps.

I'd rather have our law enforcement types helping to guard me against rapists, thieves, and murderers, and leave the cat-callers alone.

Like a 'wolf-whistle.' :dono:
Oh. Why not just call it a "wolf-whistle"?
I really have no answer for that. :ddpan:
I think it's that, with a wolf-whistle, the big, bad wolf is doing the whistling, whereas with a cat-call, the focus is on the pussy being summoned.

A rather different type of cat call, me thinks... ;)

The ones made to women in the street are usually both pathetic in one sense, and a bit frightening, I imagine, in some contexts, but the idea of legislating against it just has to be crazy...

Jerry Seinfeld said on that subject, "Sorry, ladies, that is honestly the best we could come up with."

In other words, when it comes to talking to pretty women, men are retarded.
