Partisan pink slime 'news' sites are regularly cited by chatbots in response to questions about political issues. Fun stuff. From the article:
“Pink slime” describes sites that present themselves as legitimate news sources but in fact are funded — without any disclosure to readers — by political or ideological interests that are pushing an agenda. The term is derived from the pink-colored liquefied filler used as an additive in meat. As of September 2026, NewsGuard has identified 1,179 pink slime sites in the U.S., compared to 937 remaining daily newspapers.
'"Pink Slime" Is Infecting AI Chatbots Ahead of the Midterms'
Leading AI chatbots cite partisan websites masquerading as independent local news outlets nearly half of the time when people ask about candidates and issues that the partisan sites have covered in the midterm campaign, according to a new audit by NewsGuard, an organization focused on news reliability where we work as analysts.

These “pink slime” sites have gone into overdrive ahead of the 2026 elections, actively promoting articles designed to influence which party controls Congress in the last two years of Donald Trump’s presidency. Many of these sites, which don’t disclose their political orientation, are focused on the Senate and House races that are considered toss-ups and where small voter swings could be the deciding factor.

Against this backdrop, NewsGuard prompted seven leading AI tools with queries based on recent coverage of candidates and issues by 12 pink slime sites — six left-leaning and six right-leaning. The results were stark. Collectively, the chatbots cited pink slime sites along with other sources in 48.2 percent of their responses. In 7.7 percent of responses, pink slime sites were the only sources at all that were cited in chatbot responses, although other sources appeared in the source list provided at the end of the response.

,,,

The seven chatbots were also collectively three times more likely to cite left-leaning pink slime sites (cited in 36.3 percent of responses) than their right-leaning counterparts (cited in 11.9 percent of responses) — though that may have more to do with the progressive sites’ far more frequent posting than any political bias from the chatbots. More on that below.

NewsGuard looked at citation rates as a metric for how effectively pink slime networks are achieving their apparent aim: to try to control the news narrative and spin headlines to advance their undisclosed partisan goals.

...

The audit demonstrates how pink slime networks’ strategy of presenting partisan talking points as straight news has worked to amplify their views through chatbots, which are increasingly used by consumers for information about news on topics including elections. While citing the pink slime sites, only one chatbot response out of 168 total queries noted the partisan nature of the source.

None of the AI tools received results they’d probably be eager to boast about, though the percentage of chatbots’ responses that cited a pink slime site had a relatively large range: 70.8 percent for OpenAI’s ChatGPT, 54.2 percent for Microsoft’s Copilot, 54.2 percent for Perplexity, 50 percent for Anthropic’s Claude, 41.7 percent for Google’s Gemini; 37.5 percent for Meta AI and 29.2 percent for xAI’s Grok.

JD Vance: "Think about this. If your 6-year-son comes home one day and says he's a girl, Talafreako says, and I quote, it is abusive -- abusive! -- if you don't let school officials but him on hormones and change his pronouns. Nothing in the Bible supports any of this, of course."

God? Trump, of course, was sent by God. Vance,...he was sent by Peter Thiel. Who is gay. And so he can't be acting for god.

Supreme Court in a big hurry approved an execution. Then it failed anyway:
The execution of Christa Pike's sentence has been postponed until at least next year, but it will probably be tried again in due course.

The US Supreme Court's decision in Louisiana ex rel. Francis v. Resweber from 1947 serves as a precedent for how authorities should act if an execution fails, according to the Law Commentary website.

At that time, an attempt was made to execute a prisoner by electrocution. However, the device malfunctioned. According to the Supreme Court, a malfunction in the device does not have to prevent the execution of the sentence.

I don't get how they botch these things. Why not just give a lethal dose of anaesthetic?

That's what she got
pentobarbital
Sedation and Anesthesia: Used historically for short-term insomnia treatment, preoperative sedation, pre-anesthetic preparation before surgery, and pediatric sedation for diagnostic imaging
They likely stuffed up the dose. :pop:

It was probably the administration that was botched rather than the dose. More than likely through sheer incompetence...
A blown vein happens when the vein wall is punctured through-and-through during cannulation, allowing blood and IV fluid to leak into surrounding tissue. The most common causes are too steep an insertion angle, advancing the needle after flash, applying excessive negative pressure on the syringe, and choosing fragile or unsupported veins.
The drug has to go somewhere though - so she could still die by toxicity in her major organs (most likely liver and kidneys), or she may survive with significant physical &/or cognitive impairments.

Meanwhile back at the circus...

It's now time to rehabilitate Nixon. For too long the scurrilous accusations against him have been allowed to stand. The Deep State will answer for its malfeasance and it will be revealed at long last that Nixon was treated very unfairly and was completely innocent.

'Trump DOJ on a new mission to clear Nixon’s name'
According to a new exclusive report by the Wall Street Journal published on Thursday, the Department of Justice is seeking to relitigate the legacy of disgraced former President Richard Nixon. “For nearly two years, the Justice Department has made it a priority to investigate people who previously investigated President Trump,” writes the Journal. Now, “the department is reviewing whether the special prosecutor’s office that investigated the famed Watergate break-in committed misconduct, according to people familiar with the matter, more than half a century after that scandal led to Nixon’s resignation.”

According to the Journal, Geoff Shepard – a former Nixon aide turned Watergate historian and revisionist – recently delivered a two-hour presentation at Justice Department headquarters that laid out his theory that the deep state took Nixon down. The title of his 78-page slide deck was “Watergate As Lawfare," and the language used by Shepard is notably similar to that wielded by Trump when complaining about investigations against him, as he has long asserted that “deep state” actors have waged “lawfare” against him on behalf of his opponents.

The irony is lost on them. Nixon was operating a 'deep state' - a secret level of executive power beyond the reach of democratic institutions and the law, until he got caught out of course. Trump circumventing the law, the constitution, legal precedents and norms is operating a 'deep state' - and Trump is massively enriching himself, his family, and his political, financial, and criminal allies while he does it.

Certainly. Reichsleiter Vance pointed out correctly that Watergate would be a '12 hour story' today. He inadvertently acknowledges that Trump's criminal activity and blatant corruption go far beyond what Nixon got up to. Attempting to rewrite history to exonerate a known crook is par for the course when it comes to these kleptocratic authoritarians.
