I remember when this place started, there was a diverse range of views. I recently reviewed a thread that focused on free speech, and found that many of those who thought freedom of expression important, have moved on.
Funny coincidence, that. I can't find many righties around either...

Re: Republicans: continued
You will find that most here value freedom of expression too, but it's not a blank cheque. Here, and on other social media, it's not the expression of conservative views under threat, it's advocacy of violence, whether against duly elected governments, gays, jews, blacks or others.

Re: Republicans: continued
It does not even amount to a coincidence. In light of the fact that barely more than two dozen of the forum's total of 1374 members post here on a regular basis, it is necessarily true that many of those who thought freedom of expression important, have moved on. Not that this is significant, since many those who thought there was too much freedom of expression have also moved on. It would actually be more meaningful to say that 98.25% of all members of this forum have moved on. If you want a coincidence, it is that almost the same percentage (98.64) of Mindromp's members have left that haven of free speech.*Cunt wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 8:27 pmI remember when this place started, there was a diverse range of views. This shoots down your implied claim that Rationalia's membership has dropped chiefly because of a lack of free speech. It also makes a mockery of your insinuation that you find it difficult to discuss some topics in this forum. The victim card does not work because neither you - nor anyone else - have been reprimanded or suspended by moderators for what was posted. All warnings and suspensions were the result of the 'play nice' rule, that is to say, no ad homs and no trolling is allowed. It is a telling fact that our resident Nazi has managed to add 6322 posts worth of his crap over a period of more than 10 years without ever being suspended**.
* Figures based on the following data:
Rationalia Mindromp Total membership: 1374 514 Number of members who have posted in the past two weeks: 24 7
** Tranny is the only member who had a couple of his posts edited by mods. They deleted bits in which he wrote approvingly about the genocide of Jews.

Re: Republicans: continued
I didn't claim it fell because of free speech. I do think that communities (online) that don't grow, shrink. Probably I just want to blame.
I guess I'm sad we lost Forty-Two and laklak. I liked reading their stuff. Hope they are well.

I think we've lost him to some right-wing social media site. MeWee or something like that. I'm sure he's still kicking around here, though.

Correct. That's why I wrote "your implied claim". You know, as in:
followed by more weasel words, leaving the door wide open for plausible deniability. You're highly skilled at saying stuff in such a fashion that you can retort "I didn't say that." whenever you are challenged about the veracity of what you have not said.
Other weasel expressions you like to use are "just a comedian", "source is sketchy ass fuck", "I don't trust him either" and more backdoors for you to escape through in order to avoid having to substantiate stuff you did not say. I'm not buying any of them.

Re: Republicans: continued
Laklak had a bit of a meltdown when the irreversibility of Trump's graceless departure finally hit him. His cynicism morphed to hysterical bitterness. The collective relief here and at Ratskep that the worst US President in living memory has finally been replaced by a neoliberal who promised a return to the status quo ante may have been intolerable to him. He stopped posting at Ratzkep the day before he stopped posting here. I guess he found a more sympathetic ambience at MeWe. Or he may have become too busy rebuilding his boat. In order to replace the fuel tank he had to rip out the entire aft-cabin. It's a big job. As pleasure craft go, it's a big boat.

I have always been a cantankerous grump. That hasn't stopped you replying to me before, and I never asked you to stop. So, how about explaining this Lord Voldemort stuff you have brought up in 12 posts lately? Hints and insinuations are a poor basis for a discussion, but that's all you've managed to provide so far. Or are you just trying to make some sort of a point without actually having to justify it?

Goddammit. It's because of my venting of my spleen about Republicans and Trumpism, isn't it. At least partly, probably.Hermit wrote: ↑Wed Feb 10, 2021 6:53 amLaklak had a bit of a meltdown when the irreversibility of Trump's graceless departure finally hit him.
