I would call denying science and ignoring danger to the detriment of the people evil. In fact I call the Republicans treasonous at home for what they're doing is every bit as immoral as Sadam Hussain gassing his own people. And I call their wanton destruction of island states an act of genocide. And I honestly believe them rejecting the Paris treaty should be considered an act of war.
Sure, but disputing science is not denying science, nor is disputing the solutions to problems identified by science. What you're doing is saying that if people don't sign on to leftist political solutions, they're denying science. That's not accurate.

It's really weird to hear someone who claims to be basing their view on science suggest that political policy differences are "every bit as immoral" as gassing thousands of innocent people. One might say that support for damaging and counterproductive leftist policies which negatively effect millions of people are "every bit as immoral" as Saddam Hussein gassing his own people.

Supporting the Paris Treaty should be seen as an act of war, maybe. The Paris treaty is a political boondoggle which would not accomplish what it's supporters claimed to be trying to accomplish, and would hurt millions of people.
By agreeing to the agreement, President Barack Obama committed the United States to a deal that will have little bearing on the climate and only serve to adversely impact the American economy. By 2035, it is estimated that more than $2.5 trillion in gross domestic product will be lost if the United States follows through on Obama’s commitments. And for what? Even Gina McCarthy, Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, testified before Congress, “there is not a single country that signed [the Paris climate agreement] expecting that the 2020 goals would get us where we need to be.” So, if abiding by the terms of the agreement don’t accomplish what we need and only serve to jeopardize the health of the American economy, then why move forward with it?
Typically, liberals say climate change is the most egregious and alarming cataclysm this world has ever come to know. The planet is in peril, they argue. But, in an effort to lessen the political and economic blow of the Paris climate agreement, they claim its terms are less than onerous and non-binding. Well, which is it? If the world is about to come to an end, wouldn’t the usual rabble-rousing suspects on the left want to make sure the terms of this agreement would be as binding and onerous as possible? The fact is, they either don’t know or they simply don’t care. Democrats just want to bash Trump, no matter what he does or how inconsistent their message is.

There is a faction that calls for the criminalization of "climate denial", yes. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/20 ... for-skept/

...the movement has been softened up to think like this. Punch the Nazis (i.e. anyone who supports a right wing or conservative policy or platform). Jail the "deniers" (we do it in some places for Holocaust denial, why not climate denial) -- after all, denying climate science is at least as immoral as Saddam Hussein gassing innocent women and children.

That's from people who claim not to be far leftists.

Two SCOTUS judges appointed and seated.

New trade deal to replace NAFTA and benefitting US workers.

Illegal immigration way down.

If people go by the scoreboard, and not their sensitivities, he's a shoe-in for reelection.

The reaction to the Kanye West meeting with Trump was abysmal. Did you guys see Don Lemon's show on CNN? They called him "what happens to a Negro when he doesn't read" and they were making other racist commentary about him. He's even been called a white supremacist. They are just so nervous about the headway that Trump is making in the African-American community that they just pulled out all the stops. They know that if Trump takes away just a few percentage of African American votes, the Democrats are baked.

President Trump is delivering better economic news for black Americans, Hispanics and women than any other president in the past century. That's bad news for Democrats, who are counting on strong support from all three groups in the midterm elections. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/2018/ ... 50943.html

Kanye’s effect on the electorate
While Kanye may have shocked the Saturday Night Live cast and crew and the elites of New York City, his message resonates with black Americans of all economic backgrounds.

Black voters act like they have only one choice in elections. Trump has changed all that. In the last election, Trump got one out of 10 black votes. All he needs is two of every 10 black votes to ensure that Democrats will no longer be able to take minority communities for granted.

If Trump gets three in 10 black votes, Democrats will never win another election. That is a distinct possibility. Kanye is merely the most visible tip of the iceberg when it comes to cracking the dominance of the Democrat party among black voters.

Kanye’s message: Trump is good for the black community
Discontent, poor education, failed cities, failed poverty programs, lousy schools, and lack of opportunity plague large numbers of the underclass in America. Black citizens are disproportionally affected by poverty, and mass incarceration.

Trump has been the only politician in decades to recognize that and act on it, even though black voters do not support him. But a rising tide lifts all boats.

With 4% economic growth, rising wages, and the boom in the energy sector, and the return of manufacturing jobs in Amerca, black Americans stand to benefit as much or more than anyone.

Climate science does not necessitate utilization of every left wing solution proposed. Nor is it "evil" to oppose such policy proposals.
This is some of the dumbest shit I've ever heard of. There are no "left wing solutions", you tit. There are only "solutions", which are of course embraced by the left, but shunned by the American right, because the American right are supernaturalist dimwits who value only religion, guns, and voodoo economics. But that's standard right-wingerism, isn't it—if the facts don't fit your worldview, make up some alternative ones, and call the real ones "liberal" or "left wing"!

The weird thing is that I've heard reported that many large corporations and insurance companies (outside the fossil fuel sector, of course) have accepted the reality of climate change, and want to plan rationally on that basis. The business sector in Oz wants the current impasse over energy policy ended, so investment in renewable energy can proceed with certainty. So, many of the traditional patrons of the conservative right have heard the message loud and clear...

Opinion piece by a Washington lobbyist. The lobbying firm he co-founded turned over more than $16m in 2016. One of his customers is the Saudi Royal Court. More listed here.
His Post credentials are touted to potential clients in his corporate biography, which states: “Since 2011, Ed has been an opinion writer for the Washington Post, where he writes about politics and the current state of affairs in Washington, D.C., from a Republican point of view.”

Except for the fuel sector? Bullshit. It has accepted global warming decades ago and lied about it ever since. Example:
Exxon Mobil 'Misled' Public On Climate Change For 40 Years, Harvard Study Finds

Researchers found a "systematic, quantifiable discrepancy" between what the oil giant said about climate change in private versus what it told the public.

“Available documents show a systematic, quantifiable discrepancy between what Exxon Mobil’s scientists and executives discussed about climate change in private and in academic circles, and what it presented to the general public.”

The discrepancy, the researchers said, was staggering. About 80 percent of Exxon Mobil’s research and internal memos acknowledged that climate change was real and caused by humans. However, 80 percent of the company’s newspaper ads regarding climate change questioned this fact, the study found.

An internal Exxon Mobil memo penned in 1979, for instance, acknowledged a possible link between fossil fuel combustion and an increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide. Another memo from 1982 described “potentially catastrophic events” that could arise from climate change, such as the melting of the Antarctic ice sheet.

A peer-reviewed study conducted by Exxon Mobil scientists in the 1990s concluded “the body of evidence ... now points towards a discernible human influence on global climate.” Another one from 2002 found that limiting atmospheric carbon dioxide levels could be needed to “forestall coral reef bleaching, thermohaline circulation shutdown, and sea level rise.”

It's not illegal to do that, so we should accept gracefully the opinions of non-scientists from the right. It's just an opinion, it's not at all dangerous to our continued existence. We should have a congenial cup of tea and chat with these people and calmly convince them of the errors of their ways. It's guaranteed to work.

Maybe I should have added an extract from an article published by Scientific American.
...the company’s knowledge of climate change dates back to July 1977, when its senior scientist James Black delivered a sobering message on the topic. “In the first place, there is general scientific agreement that the most likely manner in which mankind is influencing the global climate is through carbon dioxide release from the burning of fossil fuels," Black told Exxon’s management committee. A year later he warned Exxon that doubling CO2 gases in the atmosphere would increase average global temperatures by two or three degrees...
The company now jumps into the deepest part of an Egyptian river it can find.
ExxonMobil disagrees that any of its early statements were so stark, let alone conclusive at all. “We didn’t reach those conclusions, nor did we try to bury it like they suggest,”
So, business as usual.

Yes, we must continue to "show them the error of their ways to the best of our ability. Challenge their ideas. Change thought. Provoke change by intelligent debate". It worked so exceedingly well in the past 40 years.

It's a shame the Trump supporters here can't show such humility and courage and continue to dig themselves further into a hole, too afraid to admit they were wrong and show contrition.
