Trump forgot to insist on fossil fuels.
CNN

Trump has used the strike to signal that he’s looking beyond the GOP primary, skipping the second Republican debate Wednesday and trying to create his own moment in the spotlight by meeting with members of various unions at a manufacturing plant near Detroit. His campaign has also launched a radio ad in Detroit and Toledo, Ohio...

Trump Floats the Idea of Executing Joint Chiefs Chairman Milley
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archi ... ce/675435/
Trump’s threats against Milley came after The Atlantic’s publication of a profile of Milley, by this magazine’s editor in chief Jeffrey Goldberg, who detailed the ways in which Milley attempted to protect the Constitution from Trump.

A judge has ruled that Donald Trump committed fraud for years while building the real estate empire that catapulted him to fame and the White House.

Mr Trump and his family business were found liable by a New York judge in state Attorney-General Letitia James's civil lawsuit accusing the former US president of illegally inflating his assets and net worth.

The decision was issued by Justice Arthur Engoron of the New York state court in Manhattan.

Judge Engoron also ordered the cancellation of certificates that let some of Mr Trump's businesses, including the Trump Organization, operate in New York, and ordered the appointment of a receiver to manage the businesses' dissolution.

The Trump con worked for decades. Banks knew. Only Deutsche Bank was with him in the end.
As readers may have guessed, this isn’t a hypothetical example. It is the story of Donald Trump’s New Jersey casino empire, a venture ending in multiple bankruptcies that was a disaster for outside investors but appears to have been quite profitable for Trump.(Mr. Trump assembled his casino empire by borrowing money at such high interest rates — after telling regulators he would not — that the businesses had almost no chance to succeed.)

The problem for someone who wants to play that game is how to persuade lenders to play along. Why would any people risk their money in such dubious ventures?

Well, there are a couple of ways to pull this off. One, perhaps the main story with those casinos, is sheer power of persuasion, perhaps supported by a cult of personality: Convince lenders that these dubious ventures are actually good investments or that you’re a uniquely effective businessman who can turn straw into gold.

Alternatively, you can try to persuade lenders that they’re safe by offering collateral that seems sufficient to protect them but isn’t, because you’ve inflated the value of the assets you put up and possibly also inflated your personal wealth to make it seem you are both a brilliant businessman and a reliable borrower.

In virtually all western democracies other than the US, the accumulating evidence of appalling, and probably criminal behaviour over many years would have guaranteed a person such as Trump to be utterly unelectable...

Listening to that speech and spending about an hour at a Casey's gas station in rural Nebraska I came to a simple conclusion. It really works. Trump had made a bond with all these rural people. It has nothing to do with jobs or the economy or Ukraine. They see themselves in him. Most of them only see a tiny bit of themselves in Biden. And completely at odds with Kamala Harris. A Trump-Harris election would go 60% Trump.

Across the road is a sports field with youth sports going on. All white people. Might be one Latino kid out there.

I am supporting a bike ride. It is 40 miles or 60 miles. With head wind for the last 15 miles they may do only 40. I have the bananas and snacks and water/gatorade.

Unhinged Trump has ranted about electric motors on boats a few times.
Faced with a litany of criminal charges, Donald Trump on Sunday told a campaign rally in Iowa that he would prefer to die by electrocution rather than be eaten by a shark if he ever found himself on a rapidly sinking, electrically powered boat.

The former president and frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination delivered the bizarre remarks during a speech in the community of Ottuma. He was pontificating over batteries for electric powered boats while recounting a conversation he claimed to have with a boat manufacturer in South Carolina.
