Careful, if Trump is elected that will be Attorney General Ramaswamy.

https://nypost.com/2023/08/28/mark-mead ... tion-case/“Outreach to this extent was extraordinary,” Raffensperger said, noting that he and his wife received threats after Trump repeatedly bashed his handling of Georgia’s voting process.
He said he finally agreed to a call with Meadows, Trump and several lawyers after being pushed to do so.
Cross played audio of the call Monday, with a clearly agitated Trump asking for access to voter data and asserting widespread fraud.
After getting pushback, Trump exclaimed: “You’re allowed to have a phony election?”
Prosecutors argued that Meadows violated the Hatch Act with his actions, which prohibits members of the executive branch other than the president and vice president from engaging in certain political activities.
Terwilliger pushed back in his closing, arguing that state officials should not be able to define the duties of a presidential chief of staff.
CNN:
Meadows was asked to account for Trump’s falsehoods about election fraud. He was asked whether he thought Trump had lost Georgia and about then-Attorney General William Barr telling Trump the election fraud allegations were “bulls**t.”
The former chief of staff tried to dance around that question, saying that he believed at the time that “further investigation” was warranted, even though he “had no reason to doubt Mr. Barr’s” assessment that the fraud allegations were meritless.

Georgia unlikely to stop Georgia case. Governor resisting legislature.
https://apnews.com/article/donald-trump ... d85ee8b2e0Kemp and Trump were on bad terms even before Kemp spurned Trump’s calls to overturn Georgia’s 2020 presidential election. And relations grew icier after Trump recruited former Sen. David Perdue for an embarrassingly unsuccessful Republican primary challenge to Kemp’s reelection in 2022. Kemp, like some other Republican governors, now openly argues that his party needs to move on from Trump.
At least one other top Georgia Republican, state House Speaker Jon Burns, is siding with Kemp in opposing a special session. In a letter to fellow Republicans, he squelched talk of a special session, writing that he wants to look toward “a positive vision that prepares for the bright future our children and grandchildren deserve.”
“All those charged are innocent until proven guilty, and I am certain both sides will ensure this matter is exhaustively considered through the courts,” Burns wrote, saying he wouldn’t comment further.
Burns’ comments drew the scorn of Amy Kremer, a suburban Atlanta Republican activist who helped organize the Jan. 6 “Stop the Steal” rally in Washington that spawned the assault on the U.S. Capitol.
“We need to flip these corrupt RINO seats to true conservatives who will actually work and fight for the people,” Kremer wrote on social media. “So embarrassing.”
Looking for other options to go after Willis, some Georgia Republicans are coalescing around a plan to seek her removal by a new state prosecutorial oversight commission that begins work on Oct. 1.
The Prosecuting Attorneys Qualifications Commission was created with the aim of disciplining or removing wayward prosecutors. Republicans fought hard for the law because they said some Democratic prosecutors were incompetent or coddling criminals, improperly refusing to prosecute whole categories of crimes, including marijuana possession.
Democrats retorted that Republicans were the ones politicizing prosecutions, and some viewed the law as Republican retribution against Willis. She criticized the measure as a racist attack after voters elected 14 nonwhite DAs in the state.

Trump keeps telling pretty much daily that he has free speech and he can claim the election was stolen. Yet, this is not the charge in GA. Elsewhere:

I think Hercules is way off base. Scum is right on. It's not about their beliefs or their freedom to express those beliefs. It's about their actions.
Free speech guarantees that a husband has the right to say his wife is awful and how he hates her. It doesn’t guarantee that he can persuade a few friends to murder her. If it was protected speech, Charles Manson wouldn't have died in prison.
These few individuals attempted to nullify the voices of 150 million voters. They conspired to overturn a free and fair election. They created slates of fake electors. This is fraud on a massive scale. Fraud is committed almost entirely through speech. Are you suggesting Hercules that fraud is protected by the First Amendment?
It's not petty in the slightest.

Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
Trump team making a risky move demanding his electability move (eventually) to the Supreme Court
https://news.yahoo.com/trump-lawyers-mo ... 37384.htmlDENVER (AP) — Attorneys for former President Donald Trump moved a lawsuit seeking to bar him from running again for the White House from state to federal court in the first step of what promises to be a tangled legal battle that seems destined for the U.S. Supreme Court.
The liberal group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington filed the initial lawsuit on Wednesday in Colorado state court, arguing a Civil War-era clause prohibiting higher office for those who once swore an oath to the Constitution and then engaged in “insurrection” prevents Trump from running in 2024.
The initial state judge in Denver assigned the case recused himself for an unspecified conflict of interest, and then Trump’s attorneys on Thursday moved the case to federal court — asserting that the matter should be adjudicated at the federal level since it raises a constitutional issue. The plaintiffs in the case will argue it should first go back to state court, but both sides anticipate that ultimately the top echelons of the federal system will have to consider the issues the lawsuit raises.
“Plaintiffs’ challenge to Colorado’s ability to place Donald Trump on the presidential ballot depends solely on the Fourteenth Amendment,” Trump's lawyers wrote. “Trump’s basis for removal of the state court action is federal question jurisdiction under Section 3 of Fourteenth Amendment.”
CREW's case is the first of what's expected to be many challenges filed in various states by the group and Free Speech for People, another liberal nonprofit. Activists in other states have filed lawsuits in which they represent themselves, but legal observers contend the more robust complaints by the nonprofits are more likely to end up at the nation's highest court, which has never ruled on the clause.
Trump on Friday slammed the liberal organization, contending it's affiliated with a number of his critics and people with whom he clashed as president. He called the group “TRUMP DERANGED CREW” on his social media network Truth Social said it was “ridiculously” and “Unconstitutionally” trying to disqualify him
CREW said it will ask a federal judge to return the case to state court. It has also requested a speedy ruling on the issues before Colorado’s Republican primary ballot is finalized on Jan. 5.

Trump lainches his revolution in South Dakota
CNN
Characteristically, Trump also turned criticism of his behavior against his political foes, implicitly arguing that the true peril for America’s political freedoms did not spring from his attempt to invalidate a free and fair election, but from efforts to make him face legal accountability for doing so. “It’s really a threat to democracy while they trample our rights and liberties every single day of the year,” he said.
“This is a big moment in our country because we’re either going to go one way or the other, and if we go the other, we’re not going to have a country left,” he told supporters in South Dakota. “We will fight together, we will win together and then we will seek justice together,” he added. This followed a March rally in which he billed his 2024 campaign and potential second term as a vessel of “retribution” for supporters who believe they’ve been wronged.

Cosy...Russian President Vladimir Putin says the criminal cases against former US president Donald Trump are politically motivated and demonstrate the "rottenness" of the US political system.
Mr Trump, the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, is facing a series of criminal cases in which he is charged, among other things, with trying to overturn his 2020 presidential election defeat by Joe Biden.
He has pleaded not guilty, while Mr Biden, who is seeking re-election next year, has kept silent about the proceedings against his opponent.
Mr Putin said on Tuesday that what was happening to Mr Trump was good from Russia's point of view.
"It shows the rottenness of the American political system, which cannot pretend to teach others democracy," he said at an Eastern Economic Forum gathering in Russia's far-eastern city of Vladivostok.
"Everything that is happening with Trump is the persecution of a political rival for political reasons. That's what it is. And this is being done in front of the public of the United States and the whole world," he said.

Re: All Things Trump: the story continues...
On another forum someone asked "why is Trump still a viable candidate?"
ME: The main reason is that our Constitution is a sort of minimalist work. The federal government was designed to be minimalist. It was closer to what the right sees it as now than what it has evolved to. However, the founding fathers did think ahead and carefully laid out the future in the form of amendments. With the amendments, the current massive government with the million or so workers is still within the limits. The problem there is that there is no clear indication how these departments would be independent of the president. Some are, like the treasury. But basically the president could fire all cabinets and start from scratch. And Trump will do that if elected. In summary, our Constitution allows all this, as it is written on the back of…not one but a dozen envelopes. A sketch.

Witnesses are taking plea deals. What is coming out of those deals is that Trump WAS indeed in charge of many things he claimed to know nothing about.
https://www.businessinsider.com/donald- ... nts-2023-9Former President Donald Trump appeared to warn an aide not to discuss "boxes" with federal investigators who were probing his handling of classified documents, according to a new ABC report.
"You don't know anything about the boxes," Trump told aide Molly Michael, after he learned she'd been contacted by the FBI in connection with the probe, according to the report.
Michael, a former White House executive assistant who continued to work for Trump at Mar-a-Lago after his term ended, also reportedly told investigators that the former president would write to-do lists on the backs of documents that were visibly marked "classified."
