Yeah, no. Nothing's gonna happen. The US is post-Mad Max. No laws or justice. Shitface will walk, smiling. Laughing, even, at the people who want to see his stain rinsed clean. Shit-headedness and bullying wins. Fuck all the losers.

If that question is ever asked, I think that Trump will deny that he ever said anything of the sort to Comey. Having already said that Comey has lied in his testimony before Congress, there's nothing stopping him from denying the veracity of Comey's version of events.Brian Peacock wrote:A single question under-oath will undo him now. Many people are saying that this is a witch-hunt, and completely phony. No undoing, no undoing; your undoing!

Well, I think that if Trump is asked such a question formally, officially, and refuses to answer it, or tries to bluster his way around it, then the #MAGA dream is over - perhaps not straight away, but certainly irrevocably. If he simply calls Comey a liar then perhaps libel laws come into play and Comey could ask a jury to decide. Either way, tweeting about an ongoing investigation, and in such a way that clearly prejudices that investigation, amounts to an abuse of power and is an attempt to subvert the independence of the justice system. If the FBI is institutionally corrupt and partisan from the top down, as the President suggests, then the President should disband it forthwith, surely?

Judging from the news on the radio, North Korea can still be used to provide a patriotism-enhancing distraction.

Trump isn't waiting for official inquiries.Brian Peacock wrote:Well, I think that if Trump is asked such a question formally, officially, and refuses to answer it, or tries to bluster his way around it, then the #MAGA dream is over - perhaps not straight away, but certainly irrevocably. "'I never asked Comey to stop investigating Flynn': Trump goes on tweetstorm about the FBI"
President Donald Trump issued a fresh denial Sunday that he asked former FBI director James B. Comey to halt an investigation into the conduct of his dismissed national security adviser Michael Flynn.
"I never asked Comey to stop investigating Flynn," Trump said in a pre-dawn message on Twitter. "Just more Fake News covering another Comey lie!"
The tweet was the latest in a running commentary on the case from Trump that began Saturday, a day after Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his interactions with a Russian official.

Not yet. When Trump fires Muller, then.
Re: Donald is here to stay, now what? Cursing and swearing O
I think we're early on still. I read someone saying that the indictments against Manafort and Gates were the end of the beginning, and in comparison to Watergate it has that feel. I was a teenager, so I didn't follow as closely as I do now, but Watergate seemed to unfold in layers with each revelation pulling more people's attention toward the President.
While the internet is swimming in it, it's not water cooler talk, at least not in my circles.
Of course, Meuller has only shown a bit of his hand on Russian contacts. We haven't seen anything on the Comey firing and possible obstruction of justice. That could go in any direction. Intent is a big part of obstruction of justice, and unlike Nixon who was a polished and cagey politician, it's completely plausible Trump just acted out of sheer stupidity in a fit of impulsive anger, indigestion, or whatever motivates his lunacy.
The Lawfare Blog had a good write-up on a possible "I'm a moron" defense.

Ha ha ha!
We know already:
Summer Zervos, who accused Trump of sexually harassing her in 2007, is suing him for defamation because he called her and other accusers liars.
Trump’s lawyers will argue in a New York court on Tuesday that the lawsuit should be thrown out because he is a sitting president.
But former President Bill Clinton was deposed while he was a sitting president over allegations of sexual harassment by Paula Jones. Later, when he was found to have lied under oath, he was impeached by the House of Representatives.

Manafort was an odd one to chase since the behavior dates years before his involvement with Trump. Manafort's 'illegal' activity was with Tony Podesta, the brother of Hillary's campaign manager. Russians are involved, but the alleged collusion was with Hillary Clinton.Joe wrote:I think we're early on still.
