Nostalgia voters like gay hating Putin:
For nostalgia voters, this kind of talk taps into the belief that the United States (and “the West”) is in decline based on issues like abortion, gay rights, school prayer, and, as this MSNBC report indicates, guns.

Gibbon might observe, were he alive today, that the perverse preoccupations of the wealthy and powerful with their own wealth and power is what leads to the decline and fall of empires.

Let's not forget about the Luddites. Well, except the original Luddites were out to protect their jobs. These neo-ones are out to destroy jobs as well as technical progress, given that green energy is where all the jobs are. In fact; it's hard to know what the Neo-Luddites point is at all. Except an insatiable desire to want to cause environmental vandalism and narrow-mindedly oppose what they see as liberal conspiracy on a scientific issue which shouldn't even be partisan.

A few years ago, Russia wasn't even a threat, according to Democrats. It was laughable. To say that Russia posed a serious threat to the US was to be laughed at - the 1980s called, they want their foreign policy back, said President Obama, to resounding and smiling applause from the major media outlets and the Democrat clapping seals. Putin wasn't a major threat, and the Democrats were very open to Putin and Russia, while Republican candidates were sounding alarm bells.

Now, of course, we're metaphorically at war with Russia. We have always been at war with Russia. Now the Democrats are total Russia hawks, and Putin is a tyrant and a dictator.

The smiling photo ops with the reset button. A new era of friendship and cooperation between the US and Russia under Putin. Oh, yeah, that was five-odd years ago. Now, if you're not sure that Putin rigged the election and Trump colluded in a treasonous act of selling his nation down the river to our traditional and long-time enemy from the Second World -- twirling mustache - Russians, then you're just a lover of gay hating tyrant Putin....

Nobody says they're a nostalgia voter. It's a label slapped on voters to demean them. If they voted Democrat, they'd be lauded as sentimental yearning voters. Voters who long for better days.
