But we have Biden campaigning from his basement. Wearing a mask. With full-on dementia.
And fucking winning.
Ridiculous times. The only thing I would find promising at all, would be some crossing of the aisle. I can dream can't I?

Yeah, I guess you just had to look at the money. She spent more than any other Democrat up for election, and she raised ~10 million while her nearest competitor only managed ~2.Animavore wrote: ↑Thu Jun 25, 2020 9:32 amThis looks silly now. RGXS3KABPXJoe Biden’s decisive drubbing of Bernie Sanders in the presidential primary squelched the socialist stirrings that had been percolating within the Democratic Party. It’s probably no coincidence, then, that three of Congress’s most far-left members, all aligned with Sanders, are facing credible challenges of their own in upcoming House primaries.
Given my recent interactions here, I'm allowing myself to question whether we might have dodged a bullet if they do get voted out.
https://www.frontpagelive.com/2020/06/2 ... bNBv2yaIrcRep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez handily defeated CNBC contributor and Wall Street-backed challenger Michelle Caruso-Cabrera in the Democratic primary for New York’s 14th Congressional District on Tuesday, a victory that the progressive congresswoman celebrated as evidence that “money couldn’t buy a movement.”
“Wall Street CEOs, from Goldman Sachs to Blackstone, poured in millions to defeat our grassroots campaign tonight,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted after the Associated Press declared her the winner Tuesday night.
“Thank you NY-14, and every person who pitched in for tonight’s victory,” the congresswoman said. “Here’s to speaking truth to power.”
72/19 win.
I'm working on not caring.

I'm more bothered by Texas not allowing mail-in. I guess Republicans are concerned about cheating. They can't be worried that Democrat turnout will improve dramatically with mail-in can they? If their thinking about human nature is correct, then they have nothing other than cheating to fear. The same people who can't manage to vote today, for so many personal failings, won't suddenly manage the mail-in system...

Re: The Thread of Democrats
Fucking Gavin Newsom (current governor of California). I remember him when he was on the Board of Supervisors in San Francisco. I thought he was a slimy main-chancer then, and though he's matured in his corporate toady Democrat ways, he's still the same rentier-class grifter he's always been. Busy with the veto pen, protecting California from antifa/neonazis who call themselves journalists (real journalists can take their chances) and the greedy workers who want to be first in line to get their jobs back.

'Newsom vetoes bill that would have further protected journalists covering protests'
'Newsom vetoes bill to provide rehiring protections for workers laid off amid COVID-19 pandemic'The state Senate bill proposed to protect “a duly authorized member of any news service” from intentional assault, interference or obstruction from law enforcement. The bill also would have protected a journalist from citation over “the failure to disperse, a violation of a curfew, or a violation of paragraph” while reporting in an area closed to the public.
Newsom vetoed the bill Wednesday, the last day for him to take action on bills passed by the Legislature this year.
The governor's veto message said that media access is “essential to a functioning democracy,” but he took issue with the definition of a "duly authorized representative of the news media,” calling it too broad a phrase that could allow "white nationalists, extreme anarchists or other fringe groups with an online presence" to be protected by the bill.
...
Under the 1st Amendment, journalists have the right to cover public protests and demonstrations, which typically includes access to areas restricted to unauthorized individuals.
However, that right has not prevented law enforcement from arresting or challenging a journalist from doing their job.
The bill was proposed in February but has gained attention in recent months following news of several arrests of and assaults on journalists in the wake of protests and city curfews over the killing of George Floyd.
Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoed a bill Wednesday that would have provided sweeping new labor protections for workers laid off during the pandemic by requiring hotel, airport and janitorial employers to rehire based on seniority.
Assembly Bill 3216 by Assemblyman Ash Kalra (D-San Jose) called for employers in those industries to first rehire workers they laid off during a state of emergency, including in cases in which a new owner takes over a business. The protections pushed by labor groups targeted businesses, including event centers and building maintenance, that have let go a third of their workforce as a result of COVID-19.
Newsom said the bill was too prescriptive and threatened to hurt the already devastated hospitality industry.
"I recognize the real problem this bill is trying to fix — to ensure that workers who have been laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic have certainty about their rehiring and job security," Newsom said in his veto message, adding that the bill would apply to layoffs unrelated to a state of emergency.
"Tying the bill's provisions to a state of emergency will create a confusing patchwork of requirements in different counties at different times," Newsom's message said.

Re: The Thread of Democrats
Some of the moderate Democrats are threatening to vote against the party because supporting progressives makes it easier for Republicans to portray them as radicals! Well, no shit. If you voted for civil rights in the 50s-60s you were a radical too. If you don't support healthcare for all then just say so. But don't you dare vote against the right thing because it hurts your chances of reelection in your state --fuck you, you're just a single person, if you get the power --use that shit man!

Re: The Thread of Democrats
Also, where is this idea of defunding the police and packing the courts being "key policy issues" coming from? I hope nobody on the democratic side honestly believes they should alter their voting behavior on actual key policy in the hopes it will impact the effectiveness of Republican lies --that's batshit stupid.
