There are different shades of meaning, and different emphases when people use the term "religion". It will typically involve a mixture of the worship of god(s), personal faith, belong to a church community of some sort, the theological concepts in a given religion, the instructions on living given by its holy writings and leaders, and/or the historical institutions of the various churches. Very few religions indeed do not have a central position for a supernatural being of some sort. All of these aspects of religion (and sociological studies of them as social control agencies) are needed to have a balanced view of religion, and how it interacts with human lives.

As opposed to this we have Sethian pronouncements (from the pulpit, as it were...) that have very little connection with reality of any sort, particularly the view of christianity as it is actually practiced, whether in the past or now...

But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. - Luke 19:27

You can argue till you're blue in the face that this does not mean what Jesus actually said, it being a parable and all, but it actually does exhort the followers of Jesus to slay unbelievers in his name. And Christians have done that in spades.

The OT prophesies a Messiah, and the NT is all about the claimed fulfilment of that prophesy. The Old Testament is the pack of cards upon which the entirety of New Testament Christianity is built. Without the Old Testament, Jesus is just an angry Jew in a bathrobe.
As I said, it's an historical document that gives context to the life of Jesus, not a behavioral guide for Christians.
I guess we can ignore the ten commandments then, and what the alleged son of god allegedly said on the matter as reported in Matthew 5:17-18.
You may ignore anything it pleases you to ignore. That has absolutely no effect or bearing on Christianity, Christians, Christ or God. It may have a bearing on your future in whatever afterlife there may be...or not. That's up to God...or not.
There's the matter of what the alleged son of god allegedly said about the OT: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. - Matthew 5:17-18

The standard copout is to claim that all is fulfilled with the crucifixion. It kind of ignores an unfulfilled prophesy: The second coming. That's when "all these things be fulfilled." It's in Matthew 24:1-34, but of course it's ignored by those who want to believe that the old covenant has expired already and Christians no longer need to feel compelled to stone people to death because they ate prawns, gave lip to their parents, got raped in a village other than the one they live in, wore rayments of two different types of cloth et cetera. Of course not all laws have been annulled. The ten commandment, for example. Christians are still prohibited to have gods besides the jealous one. Nobody has explained yet how we are supposed to know which laws are redundant and which remain current. So, your reply is more an evasion of issues raised than an answer to them.

Don't the muzzies in France like to block the streets during their time to prayer? They might want to rethink that before someone goes after some revenge.......
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

The Montheist religions clearly a minority if when you count religions not followers. Probably less than 5%. Most religions have ancestor worship, spirit worship or multiple gods instead of one unique god. Even counting the followers today, you will only reach maybe 50% of world population that are followers of a montheistic religion.

Americans are obsessed about religion. Here nobody gives it a second thought and could not really give a damn about about it.

Cherry picking quote mining and deliberate (and utterly incorrect) mischaracterization by you, as usual.
