We got some good things out of it, but removing the money in government has never happened. You didn't even see the end of monopolies. Some were hurt while others thrived and were in fact able to gather more support under the guise of being necessary evils --where have we seen that before?
I'm sure he's just talking about moving the country back in that direction, not making things exactly as they were before Reagan. It used to be that a one income family could afford a house and car; 40 years of Reaganomics has totally obliterated that.

...and I'm just saying there's never been a time when wealth hasn't controlled the government.

Yeah but we get to squabble. About stuff wealth does not care about. Guns babies and Jesus. And some token climate change effort.

Well there's degrees of control.

There you go blaming stupid people again. This is your mess. We didn't create capitalism. We don't run the banks. We don't run the world's largest polluters. If we have health insurance we don't even understand it, and forget about scamming others out of their life savings to give their kids subpar educations.

Nope, you smart fuckers ruin everything.

I think you're just mad you can't use us dummies for cannon fodder in your revolutions because your peers have figured out how to keep us mostly fat and happy, and it drives you nuts.

Naivety tops. No wonder Trump is laughing. The Russians had no trouble breaking in.

Smartphone app at center of Iowa debacle causes delays in results
Organizers running the precincts did not get to test the mobile app until just hours before voting began

There was widespread confusion and frustration as the results of Iowa’s closely watched caucuses were delayed Monday evening as the state Democratic party did “quality control” on the results.

The surprise delay came as the state Democratic party for the first time used a smartphone app to transfer results from the nearly 1,700 local precincts to the state party, which checks and compiles the results.

There were reports that some precinct chairs were unable to use the app and were calling in the results instead using a phone hotline, but were encountering long waits.
You dont use untested technology (who got paid for that?).

Maybe, but for times immemorial, it's been wealth that controlled politics in the US rather than the reverse, however faint the control.

Well, I thought France had one such, but corruption still runs rampant...

I don't know all the details, but politicians with tax evasion problems are legion, and not sufficiently taken care of.

Sure, it's complicated, and I'm not being entirely fair. Still, the problem is an old one that neither party has proven capable of solving.

I'd like to add in response to seabass that I don't expect lives to get better, or to see opportunities like some had in the past as a result of better policies. A lot of our success was luck and we shouldn't expect to recreate it.

We want better policy because we want to be as closely aligned to what we believe is right according to compassion, reason and evidence. But there are no guarantees regarding outcomes.
