Trump to deport 600 000 criminals to Venezuela
Trump has long had TPS in his sights. In his first presidential term, he scrapped its protections for immigrants from El Salvador and Haiti.

On Sunday, the homeland security secretary Kristi Noem, sporting a cowboy hat, appeared on NBC News’s Meet the Press to justify rescinding the protections. Misreferencing the program as “TPP”, she said it no longer had credibility.

Noem parroted a line frequently used by Trump on the campaign trail, that the Venezuelan government had opened its prisons and mental health institutions and sent the occupants to the US.

She also said that “folks from Venezuela who have come into this country are members of TDA”. Tren de Aragua is a Venezuelan crime network.

Andres Oppenheimer, writing in the Miami Herald, noted that Trump’s move against Venezuelans targeted “some of his most ardent supporters in the US – both voters and TPS-holders. Buoyed by Trump and Florida legislators’ hard-line rhetoric against Venezuela’s dictatorship, Venezuela’s exile community had overwhelmingly supported Trump in the 2024 US elections.”

Rubio wags finger and warns of Trump
Speaking on behalf of Trump, who has demanded that the canal be returned to U.S. control, Rubio told Mulino that Trump believed that China’s presence in the canal area may violate a treaty that led the United States to turn the waterway over to Panama in 1999. That treaty calls for the permanent neutrality of the American-built canal.

“Secretary Rubio made clear that this status quo is unacceptable and that absent immediate changes, it would require the United States to take measures necessary to protect its rights under the treaty,” the State Department said in a summary of the meeting.

Trump's misunderstanding of the balance of trade makes him say that we are sunsidizing Canada. Suppose we just take over Canada and then also the Canadian dollar. Well, it might look like he solved it. But the "state" of Canada is still selling more to the "US" than the "US" is buying back. They are left with cash that they will use to buy things from say Europe. Nothing has changed.

But the investors jus buy land with "leftover cash."
According to a USDA Farm Service Agency report, foreign individuals and entities had a stake in about 40 million acres of U.S. farm and forest land at the end of 2021, the most recent year for which complete data is available. That’s about 3.1% of the country’s privately held farm and forest land.

Of all foreign-owned U.S. land, Canadian investors owned the most at 12.8 million acres. This makes up 31% of all foreign-owned U.S. land.

Four other countries held 12.4 million acres combined, or another 31% of foreign-owned land: the Netherlands (12%), Italy (7%), the United Kingdom (6%), and Germany (6%). China holds less than 1%.

USAID escapes Musk grab of personnel files for now. But funding cut off soon.

Often said a third world economy is much cheaper to run. Don't need to pay people for what their doing. Afterall for most people what they do is a vocation not a choir. Something they enjoy and that enjoyment should be payment enough.
