Senator from prairie state backed Trump, and tariffs, 100%. Challenger, a Democtat, has less thatn 10% chance of winning. It will take another 6 years to get even a Republican in that would fix a farm state issue and NOT go along with any President or Trump running things.
The state has not sent a Democrat to DC since 9-11 happened
It's absolutely hilarious to see Democrats against tariffs.
"We are against tariffs. We have always been against tariffs."

Next thing you know, the Democrats are going to be claiming they always favored supply side theory and the Chicago economists.

And Democrats after 9/11 gravitated to being more concerned with not insulting Islam than addressing global terrorism. One is more likely to die in a car accident than a terrorist attack, dontchaknow!?

I nice piece of Trump Derangement Syndrome, Tero, your position on tariffs. If Trump proposes, you opposes.

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-c ... ams-2018-6
President Donald Trump announced tariffs on roughly $50 billion worth of Chinese goods.
Republicans appreciated Trump's attempts to crack down on China, but condemned the use of tariffs to do so.
Democrats, on the other hand, applauded the move.
So, you think tariffs are bad, but your Democrats think they're great.

"The president's actions on China are on the money," Schumer said. "China is our real trade enemy, and their theft of intellectual property and their refusal to let our companies compete fairly threatens millions of future American jobs. While we await further details on this trade action, President Trump is right on target." - Sen. Chuck Schumer.
Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio, who is up for re-election this fall, also celebrated Trump's move.

"China's cheating has shuttered steel plants across our state, put Ohioans out of work, and distorted global markets," Brown said. "Today's tariffs are an important step toward enforcing trade laws and making clear the U.S. will not allow China to cheat Americans out of their jobs."
Many Democrats were against the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) free trade deal, .... Even in the 1990s, more of the party's members voted against the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) than Republicans.
So, on the issue, major Democrats support tariffs on China, and are generally suspicious of free trade. Republicans tend to oppose tariffs, and tend to favor free trade (which has typically been resoundingly criticized by Democrats).

But, when Trump proposes it, we opposes it!

Trump. Derangement. Syndrome.

You are generalizing and manipulating.

But Trump isolationist policy will fail. Possibly Congress will interfere in January. Presidential national security has been stretched too far.

My views on trade are Obama's.

Not worth my time to dwell on this. Waiting for election. A no confidence vote on Trump most likely.

You liked his high tariffs on tires, but you oppose tariffs on aluminum. Got it.

http://www.nbcnews.com/id/32808731/ns/b ... 9MlCFVKjIU
President Barack Obama on Friday slapped punitive tariffs on all car and light truck tires entering the United States from China in a decision that could anger the strategically important Asian powerhouse but placate union supporters important to his health care push at home.

Obama had until Sept. 17 — next week — to accept, reject or modify a U.S. International Trade Commission ruling that a rising tide of Chinese tires into the U.S. hurts American producers. A powerful union, United Steelworkers, blames the increase for the loss of thousands of American jobs.
That tariff was, of course, well-thought-out, and carefully implement, so as not to hurt Americans, like Trump's tariffs do.

Orange man bad. The dozens of anti-dumpting measures and tariffs imposed by brown man, good.

Because this illustrates the vacuousness of your argument. Orange tariff bad. Brown tariff good.

Again, not worth my time. But we make tires. Every type of tire. We do not make all grades of steel. Almost nothing to do with China.

No, I’m not critisizing Trump. It’s you. It’s like debating a lawyer.

I was on some atheist forum years ago. Somebody may remember the forum, something about Jesus curing cripples in the title. There were several atheists there that woukd debate your every atheist statement, arguing the opposite. For the sake of arguing. They made up an argument on anything. So they could make fun of you and win.

Dude, the entire purpose of the tariffs on tires was to combat Chinese unfair trade practices and dumping....

Dude - just face it, you'd oppose Trump for handing out hundred dollar bills.

I have it on good authority that 'we [meaning the US, one has to assume] don't have tariffs anywhere'. Anything to the contrary is just FAKE NEWS™.

It would seem that they should henceforth be known as 'negotiating tactics.' As in the US has levied a 25% negotiating tactic on steel imported from country X.
