Terrible Floods in Cockermouth
Re: Terrible Floods in Cockermouth
There was some bad flooding south of me last week when a Nor'easter hit - lots of damage along the shore, and apparently the Assawoman canal (which links Little Assawoman to Big Assawoman) overflowed in places. I'd try to sneak in a reference to Intercourse, PA, but sadly it's just not relevant here.

A book is a version of the world. If you do not like it, ignore it; or offer your own version in return.

How terrible that we should use tragic events to make puerile jokes.
Then they for sudden joy did weep,
And I for sorrow sung,
That such a king should play bo-peep,
And go the fools among.
Prithee, nuncle, keep a schoolmaster that can teach
thy fool to lie: I would fain learn to lie.

Well a policeman looks like he fell in the water at Workington - a few miles from Cockermouth and he ain't been seen since! So looks like he's tasted his share.Bella Fortuna wrote:What does flood water taste like - seriously?Devogue wrote:Well, nobody has died in Cockermouth.lordpasternack wrote:Devogue wrote:Apparently things aren't much better in Astormouth.![]()
