This is not accurate, since some of it is having legislative impact, like with respect the laws mandating the use of various made-up pronouns to refer to people, or potentially raising denial of the trans-gender-spectrum ideology to be tantamount to hate speech. And, the effect that it's had on college campuses is huge, with the denials of due process, the microaggression theory, and the whole boatload of cultural appropriation nonsense. These are getting people fined, jailed, expelled and fired in various parts of the western world. We have a younger generation that is in large part opposed to freedom of speech, having been convinced that it is basically the same as racism, sexism, misogyny, and the rest of the laundry list. That will have a significant impact in the coming years regarding the law of speech and freedom of thought.

These ideas are taken seriously in the halls of academia, at the United Nations (much of which looks for any excuse to limit freedom of speech and freedom of thought), in legislatures, and in courtrooms.

It's not the end of the world, but is also not irrelevant and meaningless.
