Re: My blood is protected!
I don't know guys, I can't find anyone saying that she should have just done what the cop said. -spooky
Is it really the case that in what feels like all other instances when a cop has lost their cool they've done so only after somebody has refused to comply with a legal demand?
Really, why is nobody defending this cop?

Re: My blood is protected!
Is it standard practise to rough up a non-resisting person who you are arresting in the US?
I've been arrested in the US, and they just asked me to turn around, and then put the cuffs on. And I wasn't a female nurse, I was a very fit young male.
This guy has a screw loose and shouldn't be in a job where he carries a gun. Or deals with people.

While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

Because his demand was illegal. Didn't you read the article you provided the link to?Sean Hayden wrote:I don't know guys, I can't find anyone saying that she should have just done what the cop said. -spooky

The cop needed either a warrant or the consent of the person he wanted to take a blood sample from or "probable cause ...". Detective Payne had not a single one of those justifications. The article makes that crystal clear.in 2016, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that warrantless blood tests were illegal.

So no need to get the other side. The video is clear as day, nobody might interpret it differently. We weren't there but it's still obvious to everyone the cop was overly aggressive, and in the wrong.

Well, the video was pretty clear, so yes, I am indeed fairly certain that he was in the wrong.
I'm really not sure what you are getting at, Sean...

Re: My blood is protected!
Nobody is defending him Jim. It's crazy man.
Like I asked before, are you telling me that in other similar instances where people jump up to defend a cop it's because the cop had made a legal request before the situation escalated?
Where are this guy's defenders? Maybe I just need to check back into it later, they're bound to show up right?

Or you could be the first to present his case here instead. If your defence is compelling, others will follow.Sean Hayden wrote:Like I asked before, are you telling me that in other similar instances where people jump up to defend a cop it's because the cop had made a legal request before the situation escalated?

Re: My blood is protected!
That is what is puzzling me. All Sean is implying is that we and others are jumping to conclusions about the guy's guilt, but to me the vision & the additional information were fairly clear. So, Sean, give us your speech for the defence...

I'm asking why others aren't asking you to question your beliefs about what happened. What makes this case so special? All Sean is implying is that we and others are jumping to conclusions about the guy's guilt
Do you really think it's because this case is so clear, whereas no others where people jump to defend cops have been? There may be some interesting problems in there.

Re: My blood is protected!
Well, with cop shootings or general brutality by cops in the US, there is a lot of material to choose from.
Sure, there is a range, and clearly some will involve mitigating circumstances which makes the actions reasonable when they are taken into account.
You still haven't answered Hermit or I - point to the features of this case which allow us to see the cop's actions as reasonable, and we'll respond...

Re: My blood is protected!
I'm not sure why I would do that. Are you suggesting that if I fail to present a reasonable defense for the cop that answers the question of why nobody is defending the cop? We aren't assuming people are reasonable, are we?You still haven't answered Hermit or I - point to the features of this case which allow us to see the cop's actions as reasonable, and we'll respond...
Nobody is defending this cop, with good arguments or bad.
It's probably nothing, it's probably just that it hasn't had enough exposure. But I thought I'd ask.
