Then multiply by the number of people living in the UK.
I'm not talking about the entire UK. The chosen few have prepper genes. Every civilization crash the same, only a few got what it takes to match their times. Most will freeze dead in their stupidity making the need for more power stations mute.
So, in short, electricity production is essential for the UK. It cannot survive as a nation without it. As for the few preppers, good luck acquiring and maintaining their tog duvet, thermal long johns, axes and whatnots when the rest of the nation has disintegrated.
You forgot the guns and vast amounts of ammo!
Ah, yes. Thanks for the reminder. Electricity is indispensable for the manufacture of today's guns and ammo. Without it both become non-renewable resources. Once the barrels have been worn out and the powder gone stale the most effective personal weaponry will probably be crossbows. Fine, I suppose, if you don't mind returning to an age where the reign of Alfred the Great was regarded as an era of luxury, comfort and sophistication.

Also, enjoy your visit to the dentist while you're there, Krumpelstilzchen. I hear there may be a bit of a problem producing anaesthetics without the availability of the electricity you say can be done without.

When I was a lad, the drill was powered by a stationary motor, with a series of belts going up the arm till they eventually powered the drill. Very industrial revolution...

Those Chinks are small and devious, they'll sneak into the country in mini-submarines and crawl through the sewer pipes and turn off all the lights. The Limeys won't know what hit 'em.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
