Police has searched his communication and they found that he had been notified at Saturday that a close friend of his was killed in Afghanistan (unclear how he has died). His foster family reports that his behaviour changed after receiving the message. Possible this triggered some heavy emotions.

One witness in the train is a worker in a refugee shelter nearby where the attacker had previously resided for months. She reports that when he entered the train and saw her, he immediately changed to a different the cabin at the other end of the train without making contact. Probably didn't want to hurt people he knew.

Apparently the PC mob are pushing the mental illness 'get out of jail free' card again in Germany. Only good fortune it wasn't a truck. Next time it could be, given how lax the Germans have become with their borders, and how many they've let in. The last person attacking people with a knife in a train and the pilot crashing his plane weren't Muslims. Neither was the pensioner who killed a lawyer a week ago in Stuttgart.

Singular incidents do happen. But Muslamic terror tends to be cellular like the IRA. With 4.3 million Muslims in Germany, all breeding like no tomorrow, the question is how many Muslamic communities are harbouring malignant cells? Pensioner's are unlikely to do the big one, so it is less imperative to be on their case.
