I think this sort of view is the problem in the US - someone deserves to be killed just because they are a prick. No, you don't deserve anything other than being arrested and sentenced by a court.

I don't think he deserved to be shot, but it was a foregone conclusion the minute he resisted arrest. There was only one way this was going to end when he didn't lie absolutely fucking still. The other shooting is, from what I can see, completely indefensible. Dude told the cop he had a carry permit and where the gun was, exactly what you're supposed to do in that situation, but he ends up dead anyway.

This is fixing to get one fuck of a lot worse now that two cops were shot at a protest rally in Dallas.

It hinges on whether he actually had a gun, and was trying to reach it when shot. If so, his being shot is reasonable. If he actually had no gun, then one of the cops yelling "he's got a gun" will be seen as a legal excuse, on record, to shoot him...

But mm's earlier point stands. In a country so saturated with guns, it is understandable that police will almost automatically assume a suspect is armed, which will lead inevitably to nervous policemen shooting more people, some with cause, some without...

Dallas police shooting: Former congressman warns Barack Obama 'This is now war... real America is coming after you'

A former member of the US House of Representatives has declared “this is now war” in reaction to the death of five police officers in a shootout at a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas.

Joe Walsh wrote on Twitter: “3 Dallas Cops killed, 7 wounded. This is now war. Watch out Obama. Watch out black lives matter punks. Real America is coming after you”.

Mr Walsh, who served as an Illinois congressman from 2011 to 2013, quickly deleted his tweet.

What disappoints me about the American police, is that they are so lax in shooting white people.

Dude had a record as long as your arm, burglary, felony weapon possession, sex with a minor, possession of narcotics, you name it. He was very well known to the local police, who responded to multiple reports that he was threatening people with a gun. He was fighting multiple cops while in felony possession of a weapon after being fucking tazed. They did us all a big fucking favor, I'd give them a week off and a bonus.

Here's a tip: if you're a violent felon well known to the cops, you're carrying a weapon (in itself another felony), you're threatening innocent people with that weapon, the cops roll up on your ass and end up tazing you multiple times, you need to fucking lie there really, really, really still, because you're about 10 nanoseconds from getting a bunch of 9 mills in you.

Nice misquote there eRv. That's not what Lak said or meant. He didn't say the guy "deserved" to be killed "just because [he] was a prick," he said if you are a known felon in possession of an illegal firearm and the police tell you to do something you'd better do what they tell you rather than fighting with them lest you get shot dead. Sage advice actually.

Oh, and they were TRYING to arrest him in order to bring him to court but he fought them. So what were they supposed to do, throw their hands up and shout "Black lives matter!" and just walk away? Could you possibly be that idiotic as to think that the police anywhere are just going to walk away from a violent felon resisting arrest? If he wanted to see a judge he should have peaceably surrendered. Evidently he didn't. It's all on him.
