That's just over a quarter of what we get in a year. And we do get brief rain storms too. Last February this one came in literally out of the blue, dumped 13 millimetres in my garden and was gone four minutes later:

We average about 54 inches a year, but it's wildly variable. Few years ago we got 22 inches in about 3 days, things got a bit soggy. Garage flooded, and one toilet stopped working because the drain field was saturated. Lucky we've got two septic systems, or we'd be shitting in the yard.

the seine his a high point of 30 years, but did not cause much catastrophe except for those businesses that were located dangerously close to the normal level, under the height of the bridges and the quayside streets. Last tim I heard it was getting lower by the hour.

Sounds like the east coast low that hit us has been worse down south as it tracked down the coast. We got 360mm in about 24 hours here at the Tweed. But down at Wollongong south of Sydney they got 620mm (about 25inches) in 24 hours. That's probably more than half their yearly rainfall in one day. They were also getting waves up to 13 metres high around Sydney!

I still haven't been down to the beach front at Kingscliff yet to see the damage here. Waves were "only" up to about 4 metres here, I think.

Under a tropical storm warning through tomorrow at least. Just rain so far, about 3 inches. Calling for another 4-8 through the night, so I'll have to get up and check the pool in the middle of the night. Schools closed tomorrow, bet there's a lot of parents just loving the idea of kiddies at home and lots of rain.

We had rain here too. 0.4 millimetres on Sunday morning. The forecast is that the deluge is finally going to reach us down here tomorrow. 5 - 10 mm of it.
