At my daughters school a boy was suspended for having a big afro he refused to have cut. When he returned he'd had his head shaved.

Moms and dads are the appropriate judges of their kid's haircuts.

A mate of mine got suspended from our Grammar school for having a bad haircut. His sister had tried to do it with scissors. It was all fucked up. So he had to have it shaved down to blade one to hide the chippy-choppiness. But you weren't allowed to have anything shorter than about blade 3 or 4 at school. So he was suspended for another couple of weeks until it grew longer.

I don't know, ask conservatives (i.e. yourself). It was a Grammar school, full of idiotic conservative rules and morals.

My daughters school had pretensions, being the UKs top state-funded school by exam results and well ahead of most private educational establishments. While she enjoyed and responded well to the education she did not respond well the culture, which she found rather oppressive and overly inclined to judgementalism. When it came time for her to consider her further education options she decided to continue her studies at college rather than the schools 6th form. Her main reason for this choice was that she didn't want to be treated like a drone any more. She's far happier where she is now and is well on course to study music and theatre at university, and should she decide to go down that route I'm sure she'll do very well.

My own school when I was a child was modelled on the English public school system, with all its faults (although the science and maths teachers were highly competent). Most of my classmates became doctors, lawyers or businessmen, of course, as they were expected to do (the ones who didn't kill themselves, of course...)
